Ppl say Messi can't be the best because he walks around the pitch the whole time. Thing is, he reads the ball and knows the precise time to run, sprint, hop, skip, jump, etc and therefore saves a whole load of energy.
Personally, I think that Messi would score more Goals if he made more runs.Sometimes he should attack the space (that's what he did in 2012 when he scored 91 Goals) but now he ask for the ball on his feet 90% of the times so he always have to beat at least 1 opponent to score.That's the total opposite of CR7 who always Attack the space or Shoot from long range so he hasn't to face any opponent.But like you said he has a great tactical intelligence and save a loooooot of Energy due to his approach of the game and that's an important thing for someone like him who is not a physical beast

1)Messi DOESN'T DIVE contrary to CR7 ! How many dive has Messi in his entire carrer ? Maybe 20-30 , Ronaldo has 100 only this season
2)Messi doesn't celebrate a Penalty against Eibar (when the score is already 5-0) like a worls class Goal.
3)Messi isn't just statistic and contrary to Ronaldo people don't say he had a good game because he scored Pen or a tap in Goal.Messi had 14 takes on today, That's 1 more than CR7 in WHOLE 2016 !!!!
