The penalties were quite OBVIOUS, they never TOUCHED the ball.

I don't think it is just about trophies but I also don't think it can be aregud that Arsenal play the best football if they don't win anything. Unless the objective is not to win which surely even Arsenal fans would concede is not the case?Furthermore i think it could easily be aregud that in recent times Arsenal have been playing less and less of the beautiful game? While they are still passing the ball round and enjoying a large amount of possession they have had fewer and fewer shots on target as when they get down to the box they pass the ball around an unnecessary amount and finish with a weak shot on goal. That cannot be aregud as being the best football as the objective of an individual game is to win.I don't think it is an obsession necessarily with trophies. Although i disagree with you about people wanting trophies being a failure of society sports is competitive and about winning. When you play games you play to win, everybody does so what is wrong with your aim being to win a trophy surely it is only a result of winning. I am sure that was also Arsenal's aim and in that sense they have failed. I have no problem with people being Arsenal fans or having less concern over winning trophies (although i think you may be in the minority there) but to claim Arsenal play the best football is an interesting claim and the question that it begs is what is meant by the best football?

Good game but goals were flukish. Gives the team confidence but not enough belief in the strikers. Except for Persie though, who seems to be insulting everybody's intelligence

Sagna & Arteta are back and Wenger will have no excuse if his team cannot finish top 4. Wenger has to go back to basic: Sagna-Per-Kos-Ver and Vermaelen will still be the makeshift LB until Santos or Gibbs returns. Defending is prime goal of the 4 and the Gunners have the right calibre of midfielders, wingers and striker to organise the attack and finish with goals. Song-Arteta-Ramsey in midfield and Rosicky an able sub are good enough to strive a balance in the Gunners both ends. If Walcott & Ox can improve their shooting and crossing/passing Arsenal may still have a good chance to beat Chelsea for an UCL qualifying place.
