It won't be offside unless the player has touched the ball, but offside can also be in other ways: Normally if a player is distracting the defending team would be in an offside position, but I don't know if that can be said in this case. The decision should be made by the referee, but since none of them called it, it must have been okay.

I think should be ruled offside, he was running towards the ball!! We saw so many times that when an offside player attempted to control the ball, offside was straight away. Come on, even when a shot towards goal had an offside player jumping away from the shot, offside was still ruled right?
