Barcelona could win this without those matchkilling decisions.
I disagree. We see games ruined all the time by this harsh rule. They're effectively over as a contest.
Fair enough if its a cynical foul and the keeper goes out of his way to impede the player but if its a legitimate attempt to go for the ball, like I think he was doing here, then a yellow card and a penalty is enough punishment I reckon.
If its the last defender fine but a goalie is in a make or break situation, they should be given more leeway.
Yes, Barcelona would've probably won anyway but Bilbao, or most teams for that matter, don't stand a chance if they are down a goal and a man after what is essentially a mistimed tackle. Just my opinion.
According to the rules as they are now, that's a red, because it's a clear goal attempt. What is it that you can't get through your head?
They made this rule stricter only recently if I remember right with little allowance for referee discretion and I think its to the game's detriment.
Szczęsny fouling Robben in the 2013/2014 Champions League was another case. Yes, a mistimed and clumsy tackle but clearly a genuine attempt to go for the ball. Penalty and a sending off? C'mon, too harsh. It totally killed the tie.
Clearly no doubt about it.
Cearly you don't know anything. Of course it was a red, because Suarez would of been free with the goal.
Hahahaha. Well.. Ok.
Great performance from the team and Suarez is on fire!
