With all respect, I think some ppl should cut some slack on Rooney. Forgive me for saying this but call a spade a spade. Truth be said ~ the entire England team was rubbish during the recent World Cup with the exception of a notable few like Gerrard. Before WC, a lot of ppl were saying Rooney would put on a grand show having seen his stunning season last year for Man Utd. And when Rooney came back home with zero goals at WC, they start criticizing him. What to say? Hypocrites. So back to the age old question of why Rooney cannot replicate his club form for England? Simple. He does not get the service AT ALL when he plays for England. At Man Utd, he is the focal point. There is Nani, Valencia, Scholes, Carrick to feed the balls for him. Who does that for him in the England team? Probably only Gerrard. Lampard is more likely to shoot into orbit in an England shirt, rather than his usual precise long range screamers for Chelsea. Still, Rooney is the best striker to come out from England since Michael Owen. Used to respect Capello but day by day, reading the way how he handles his players make me question his tactical acumen. Especially on how he handled Beckham's case. Any manager with common sense and basic sympathy would at least spare a player of Beckham's legacy some dignity by informing his decision directly to the player and not the press. And given Beck's legend status, he deserves AT LEAST a final farewell game for England. That is a way to honour one of England's finest players and not using underhand tactics by speaking directly to the press without. With this decision, it has convinced me that Capello is indeed becoming more like "Crapello" day by day.
