English players don't get the chance and lack a good mentality. Sterling is a greedy pig at such a young age.

this overused word 'great' needs to officially be banned from football related chats. How exactly is sterling a 'great' player? He runs like a duck and had a relatively poor season. He is yet another overhyped, overvalued and overpaid english 'talent'. tonight, rugani had harry kane in his pocket, yet according to the english media, he's the best thing since alan shearer. 40 million quoted....give me a break

Well lets hope women team won't disappoint . I have no explanation to why English players do well outside of the national team but not when it comes to nation .

I have tons of explanations, and things arent going to get better if the drastic changes arent applied like did Germany in 2006.

Lol, but they don't do that well outside of national team. They perform the same for both club and country. There aren't any world-class English players right now other than perhaps Joe Hart and Wayne Rooney.

No they don't perform same . By that logic , then USA national team should suck , because they don't have players who play for any top European side but they got out of the group of death and were whiskers away from going past talented world class Belgium and even beating Champions of WC Germans.

LMAO, England and Italy out. OUT. Bye bye, ciao! *The* two national teams with the biggest discrepancy between aspirations and results.Funniest thing: Italian media claim the other game was fixed, good one. England just plainly sucks as usual.

BPL players are overpriced, the main reason being their age and homegrown restrictions of FA.

LOL Italy is a bunch of old pensioners pizza eaters. Italian football is mediocre. Look how balotelli, borini, giaccherini , Osvaldo all flopped in the Bpl. All England players are wlorld class no Italian player is world class at the moment

Hmmm, another sad day for English football. It is really not clear where the exact problem is; this is the biggest dilemma! You cant blame the EPL nor the facilities and the youth development programs in place.

you can actually blame the EPL. keep in mind that most of the Italian guys on the pitch play in Serie B. meaningless win anyway, Portugal and Sweden did the "biscotto", 1-1, and we go home.

Just some points. England has a mental barrier. It seems like England manifested "failing" into their mindsets. This is emphasized by Englands penalty shoutout statistics. Usually one player is hyped as the Messiah who will redeem England (Beckham, Rooney,...). There is no collective. The media focuses on failures too much. Success is a long term project (see Germany, they started in 2006). England needs a change of mentality (and maybe a philosophy to follow). Get a coach who can inspire an intrinsic motivation. Tabloid journalism cannot accomplish this!

@FesTus, same in Italy, hence my reference to Serie B. what i meant was, do not believe that Italian players get chances while English players don't, it works just the same. but at least in Italy we still have a good school and a League which is not ruled totally by money. Di Biagio could have called better players like Verratti, and he could also have fielded a better line up in the early matches, the one vs Sweden for example. but he didn't. that costed us the tournament. also, Italy didn't certainly have players who are priced 50mil tho'... another difference :)

They also have the best striker in the world in the name of HARRY KANE!!!!Rated at 45 Mil. EURO....
0
KSI 9 years ago
@milanlamiavita & @jak_juventus FA's homegrown regulations plans on increasing no. of home grown players while reducing overseas players. So if there is a good English player English clubs would pay a high amount to buy him. Thus the high price, but a foreign club would find such player worthless for such a high price. So he seems over rated to you.

sti cazzi uefa rule. what are you talking about? in head to head, we lost to sweden. the whole goal difference solution is totally outdated. we got out deservedly as we could only beat the english.

Inter, Moldova 5 1796
Bhhhraaaaa..........head to head, is also an Uefa Rule , For example this rule work only in Serie A...In EPL nobady hear about this rule...Goal difference is the only solutions to put teams on the right place with the same points

What is EPL? Do you mean the premier league? ps. I studied in england and lived there for the best part of 5 years. nobody called the premiership / premier league, EPL? Also. Just because the 'EPL' is decided by goal difference, it doesn't mean its the rule of the bible. goal difference is retarded simply as towards the end of the season, a team fighting for the title might be playing a team fighting for europe, whilst another contender is playing a midtable team who have nothing to fight for. that team scoring a lot vs the team fighting for nothing is in no way indicative of their apparent superiority. head to head is the way forward.

@milanlamiavita, me too i studied in Cambridge, but i keep calling it EPL, as in English Premier League. it should be BPL, but i hate calling things by their sponsor.
