Reports in the Italian media say Sevilla's signings supremo is on the verge of finalising a deal to become the Serie A club's sporting director.

Sevilla sporting director Ramón Rodríguez Verdejo, better known as Monchi, is close to completing a deal to join AS Roma in the summer, according to reports in Italy.

Sky Sports and Corriere dello Sport say Monchi has been holding talks with Roma chiefs in London to finalise the terms of his appointment at the Serie A club.

Monchi to be appointed on three-year agreement

And it's believed that the 48-year-old, who has been Sevilla's transfer mastermind since 2000, is to put pen to paper with the Giallorossi imminently.

He is expected to sign an initial three-year contract with the Italian capital outfit.

Conclusion : Amazing news for Roma, this guy is for me the best sportive director in the world.

Bartomeu is playing with socios nerves, the treble saved his a$$ in last elections and he had absolutely nothing to do with that...
Laporta back please...

Not really surprised you want Laporta back. After all, you've enjoyed many great seasons with him. I remember the recent presidential campaign when Laporta was running, he completely exposed Bartomeu.

Bartomeu isn't that bad, the resignation of Xavi and aging Iniesta makes everything looks worse than his predecessor.

Every single team has their up and down, and that's the circle of football. So I wouldn't blame him for everything.

Back to the topic, amazing news for Roma! I have read a couple of news regarding Monchi and he seems to be a great guy. Cant wait for Italian football to be back to their place

Bartomeu won the elections because it took place 3 weeks after winning the treble, they let Barca with short depth for years, we waited a world class Cb for ages, they let Thiago Alcantara leave, they didnt managed to keep lamasia upgrading first squad youngsters. They completely destroyed last transfer market weakning what could be one of the best teams of modern Football. They disrespected Alves and sold great players for pinuts....
Im pointing the off pitch work, Barca is an institution, you have quality from youth formatons to high level jobs so a bad president can't really ruin it in 4 years...
He just got lucky, I was agaisnt Laporta departure, then I disapproved Rossell until he left, Bartomeu is his right hand nothing more.

Laporta loosing the elections was heartbreaking, Im not against adds on shirts Or focusing on marketing and buisness but at the condition of putting the squad In good conditions...

Here again, when you have no clue In transfers and you see Monchi going to Roma while linked to Barca ( he offered his service), thats frustrating...

This probably won't help Roma too much to be honest. Their problems has mainly been lack of trust between the manager and the players, alongside poor management towards the end of the season. Players like Rudiger, Naingollan and Salah are all very good, but when they are being constantly overplayed, they will get tired, and the results will be shown towards the end of the season.

It's similar to Arsenal. Bigger sides always operate with a plan B that allows them to operate forward. However, Roma don;t have a plan B. In the case of having more back up players, Monchi will come good., but keeping the high quality players will be hard however, Rudiger is being linked away this summer.

This can go either way, but choosing who will replace the Spalleti will be the most important factor for Roma.

Luis Enrique is probably following next for Roma, don't underestimate Monchi power, the sportive and financial situation will only get better with him. Because he will boost the sales and will buy intelligent like he always did.

True, but don't expect to see Roma improve within a short term time. Even if Allegri leaves, Roma must still focus on their own problems before they think about competing in the scudetto. If they think very closely about the players they buy and fix their problems, as well as keeping consistency, I don't see why Roma cannot compete, but until then, I can't.

Lol, Spalletti is being linked to a move to Juventus if Allegri leaves.

@Amir I also heard that Emery have been linked to Roma if he get sacked. Anyway, Enrique to Roman would be really interesting to see. Kinda hoping it happen. Still think Enrique is not as overated as other say and is actually pretty decent. :D Also, can't wait to see Laurent Blanc getting a contract somewhere. :D

Well, Enrique didn't work very well with Roma the first time, I don't see why they should bring him back.

Emery is actually possible. It's likely that PSG will sack him if he doesn't win the treble this year. I agree with you on Enrique is not overrated. In fact, he might even be underrated. He doesn't get the same fame that Pep got at Barcelona, yet is able to suit and adapt to new tactics very quickly. You only have to look at how Barcelona survived that tough schedule of games. Changing to 3 1 2 1 3 against A.Madrid and PSG was very clever.

@Madridista He know the team, the staff, he also got more top level experience with Barca and with a better sport director and his new found reputation, they might manage to recruit much better player. I feel that would be reason enough.

@Amir Agreed, Enrique is pretty witty when he want to. :D

Pairing Emery-Monchi is a strong duo and 100% compatible, Emery focuses on rotations and competition whole season for regular XI positions... Monchi attract that profile of players, cheap talented '' wannabe " players...

Jardim paired to Monchi could be the ultimate combination i want to see, a coach giving youngsters place and a youngster gems specialist. That would bring any team on top of charts no matter their budget.

Carlo for instance, my fav coach has not this youngsters mentality, relies mainly on maturity and experience, love to rely on the Man rather than the young talent. The reason i think Renato Sanchez and Kingsley Koman, Kiich and others should follow Gotze footsteps and find playing time...

Monchi is amazing. He always makes sure to buy not the best players, but players with good potential. Sevilla is club which improves players more than any other club. So it was amazing combination. Seems like it would work out for him in Roma, too. No reason to fail.

Seems the rumors were right, and seems that Monchi is going to Roma. Funnily enough, they are trying to bring in Emery as you said if he gets the sack, considering they were in Sevilla for a while and they formed a solid duo, it's a high possibility.

@Amir Yep, I heard about that. Don't think Emery will leave so soon though, even if he fail to win ligue 1.
