I think he deserves it!! Plays brilliantly week in week out especially when Sunderland are poor he grabs vital goals... could be a great recall!!

I don't see why not. Always has done well for England, is doing good for Sunderland.

He's clinical. England lacks that type of striker since Micheal Owen and himself imo.

Its good! Defoe is a fine player, don't be fooled by the fact he is getting old and is playing for Sunderland, he can still do well for England, no doubt.

england need to revamp their entire squad to even compete with the top 5, or top 10 teams in the world. short term he might be a good option, but national team coaches need to think long term. form a team that consistently plays together, england are average at best, but might be interesting to see how defoe does.

Meanwhile Benzema and Lacazette still can't get into France's lineup.... f-ck Deschamps.

@dynastian i feel for france. they have so many quality players it's very difficult to choose around 23 for the qualifiers. i hope icardi gets chosen for argentina or even paredes. it's not such a bad problem to have:p

@Gonzi Man, I don't have a problem with Icardi being called for Argentina, I just hope he stay humble if it happen. He kind of managed to give me a bad impression with what he did to Maxi Lopez. :(

@Dynast 100% agreed. How can you pick Giroud and Gignac over Benz, Lacazette or even Martial, heck, even Gameiro should be given more chance than those two. Deschamp far from the best possible manager France could have. I just wish they would bring Blanc already.

@saatvik10 Didn't know that but I wasn't talking about right now, I was talking about in general. Take the Euro final for exemple, who does Deschamp bring for Giroud? Gignac, wich actually pretty much the same kind of player Giroud is, in only less good. And all that while Martial who could have bring a totally different dynamic was right here on the bench. I mean, why? If Giroud couldn't score, why would Gignac do it? I don't get Deschamp, he doesn't seem very good at adapting to his opponent strategy.
