I don't know how, I don't know why, but Greece somehow always gets it done. Euro 2012 1-0 against Russia, from 4th to 2nd.Now world cup, from 4th to 2nd ( the only 2 goals ). Crazy drama.

themattlane. its the power of numbers baby.. look at the stats in all games, greece had many opportunities. besides, italy, spain and england were in much harder groups.

You can't give a penalty for that. The striker kicked the defenders leg as he was winding up to shoot. Never a penalty.

As -.- eloquently put it "striker kicked the defenders leg as he was winding up to shoot" Even with the link you so graciously provided it is unquestionable that Samaras' foot obviously hit Sio's leg, his thigh to be exact as gravity does the rest.

You my friend, should never testify in any court case and please seek the assistance of optician before claiming to see occurrences that have not taken place. For a referee to make that visual mistake during a live match is understandable, human even. However, for you and any other non-visual impaired person to say that was indeed a penalty, in spite of all the after-math and slow-motion aid provided, is just plain ignorance.

Greece hit the woodwork 3 times buddy. they dominated this game. look at stats. he came into contact with samaras, didn't cause him to fall though, that was dramatized. welcome to the wonderful world of football, is this your first game? at the end of the day greece dominated attack, look at the stats they weren't made up. ole..

I am ashamed our Greek forward dived on his own in the Ivory Coast penalty area and was awarded a Penalty and Ivory Coast was clearly and irrefutably cheated out of the a World Cup. He should have been red carded and Not awarded. I see some ridiculous comments and maybe people need to see the replay in slow motion to see that the Greek forward tripped on his own.

Clearly its Samaras' leg colliding with the defender that causes him to trip himself. The defender wasn't even making a challenge.

This is clearly 100% a penalty and a stupid challenge at that from Sio. I have seen the Youtube slow motion, and it clearly shows him setting his foot (not all the way down, which cannot state he was standing still) in front of Samaras, without the intention of play, and not shielding the ball, so bye bye to your comments to John and -.- which are clearly a bunch of people jealous of Greece.I think this game was fantastic performance from Greece and clearly deserve the game. Personally I think Greece will not progress after the next round, but I wish Greece good luck!!

It is not about Greeks cheating. The Greek players tripped over himself. It was the referee who either cheated, was incompetent or was perhaps paid off

I think it is you who should watching football. Not only was it NOT a penalty, the Greek player should have been red carded. I guess when it comes to football as they say in English "IT IS ALL GREEK TO YOU!"
