Seriously? His arm in unnatural position way away from his body. He blocks a goal bound shot with keeper beaten. So yes FIFA sided with Japan because they wrote the rules that this is a penalty and red card for denying goal-scoring opportunity. This should be given every time. Especially with VAR being available to make sure ref does not miss it. If you want to rant, complain about Sanchez making an absolute bonehead decision not 3 minutes into Columbia's opener game in WC. They had more than enough quality with 11 players to come back and win it if he let's the shot in.

You are clueless. Clear red card, everyone knew that. Columbia's FK goal shouldn't have even been a foul, falcao fouled the Jap player yet he got the foul? Columbia were clueless.

Columbia was never really strong anyway. I could see it coming. They lost to South Korea 2:1 just before the world cup too.

I am happy for Japan s win - however, I was bit disappointed by their anxiety in managing the advantage of leading 1-0 and playing 11 against 10 players

What a proud moment for my home country! Honestly I couldn't care more that we beat Colombia who had ten men, the most important fact is that we gained a vital victory to potentially help us reach the next stage! So proud of everyone today, impressive stuff!

Osako has always been a talent i'm glad he's getting some attention in his national team this way he will keep playing for Japan they need someone like Osako with an attacking instinct

He's one of the best strikers for our national team that I've seen, he might look slim, but he sure has great physical strength which was evident with his movement that led to the penalty kick!

I am confused, is it normal that James Rodriguez didn't start the game?

The game was one sided....again FIFA put their hands on the game siding with Japan....there was no "hand of God" from the Colombia player...it was the upper right arm as he was moving right to block from the shoulder. As soon as the Colombian team tied the game 1-1...they started giving Colombia the yellow cards as if everything must go. If you want to see real officiating, see the Mexico-Germany

LOL, the shot was going back to the net and he was the last person apart from the goalkeeper to stop the shot, so obviously that was a bloody red card. The ref had it spot on and you make no sense at all whatsoever! Also, Colombia's goal shouldn't have happened cuz that wasn't a freekick, Hasebe didn't commit a foul on Falcao but instead it was the opposite! Biased much man! Come on, we won this game fair and square!

Calling it now, best group in the tournament. Japan played well (although red card surely influenced the scoreline), lots of individual quality and discipline. If Carlos Sanchez didn't do that, it could have been a different story, but doesn't matter now. Happy for Japanese, especially for Kagawa and Osako.

I think taking Quintero off came back to haunt Colombia. Best Colombian player imo. Davinson Sanchez was very poor. Inui is also very underrated, he was Bundesliga players few years ago but he is very very good in La Liga, probably one of Eibar's best players. Love the way he always put in performances, just needs to focus a bit on finishing.

Yeah, I'm glad Inui is doing well. I heard he's been one of Eibar's key players, after he was good for a while with Einracht. Good little player.

Don't forget Inui and Shibasaki as well, they were fantastic! We should have been more clinical and finished our chances though, or else it will be tough to beat Senegal who have a really strong team!

Good job, Carlos Sánchez. Screwing your team into 85+ minutes of playing with 10 men?????? I see another Colombia killing coming after the tournament...

Japan is fecking terrible. They were playing against a 10 team Colombia side for practically the entire match and they only muster to break the deadlock in the 73 minute.

They dominated the game in the 2nd half. Besides, colombia's free kick should not be given because it's not Japan's foul.

Literally what FrenchKiss said, that wasn't a foul, it should have gone Japan's way. Also playing against 10 men doesn't mean instant wins, since you can play 4-4-2, and change that to 4-4-1, all that's changed is your ability to score with 10 men, whilst your defence maintains it's strength. Japan had many opportunities to dead the game off too, overall Japan were just better.

Carlos Sanchez is such a stupid player only he is the reason for their loss today!

You don't say that, in that moment he has to make a quick decision, which helps to stop it going in the net. He did that but still lost a goal, It's stupid, but he has to be super fast.

Super unfortunate start for Colombia, but I didn't think Pekerman made any good adjustments to the situation. Japan played well and disciplined though, it opens up the group even more.

I agree with Cuadrado been taken out tbh, and maybe Izquierdo, but Quintero not as much. It was harder for them since they had 10 men.

An awfull decision from Sanchez. Just let it go in. Colombia had the power to get back, but in 10 men, it was almost impossible.

nice to see Columbia get the equalizer after being down to 10 men. Going to make the group interesting
