Match facts

Real Madrid

  • Real Madrid have reached the Champions League/European Cup final for the 14th time, more than any other team. They have won 10 of those – also a record, including the last four (1998, 2000, 2002, 2014).
  • 2016 included, Madrid have now made 17 appearances in the Champions League/European Cup final (14 for Real, 3 for Atlético), more than any other city (Milan has 16).
  • Real Madrid have won only two of their last 12 competitive games against Atlético, but both wins have come in the Champions League (4-1 after extra-time in the 2014 final; 1-0 in last season's quarter-final second leg).
  • The last four competitive games between Real and Atlético have produced only four goals (2 each).
  • Real Madrid have kept 10 clean sheets (in 12 games) in the Champions League this season, which equals the record in the competition (Arsenal in 2005/06).
  • Cristiano Ronaldo has scored/assisted 74% of Real Madrid's goals in this season's competition (20 out of 27). He's only one goal away from the Champions League record for most goals in a Champions League campaign, a record he currently holds (17 in 2013/14).
  • Ronaldo could become only the second player to score in three different Champions League/European Cup finals after Alfredo Di Stéfano, who did it in five finals.
  • Toni Kroos has completed 554 passes in the opposition half, more than any other player in this season's Champions League.
  • Keylor Navas has kept 11 clean sheets in 12 games in his Champions League career. He's also saved 31 of the 33 shots on target he's faced in the competition.

Atletico Madrid

  • Atlético Madrid have reached the Champions League/European Cup final for the third time (1974, 2014, 2016). They have so far lost their previous two finals (v Bayern Munich after a replay in 1974; v Real Madrid after extra-time in 2014).
  • This is the third time in the last four years that the Champions League final has been contested by teams from the same nation (Germany 2013, Spain 2014, Spain 2016).
  • Atlético have won seven of their last 16 games against Real Madrid, in all competitions (5 draws, 4 losses). They had failed to win any of their previous 25 games against Real (6 draws, 19 losses).
  • The three previous Champions League/European Cup finals held at the San Siro have never been decided by more than one clear goal (1965, 1970, 2001), the last two going to extra-time.
  • Atlético have kept 15 clean sheets in their last 21 Champions League games, including four in six knockout games this season.
  • In three seasons as manager in the Champions League, Diego Simeone has taken Atlético Madrid to the final in 2014, quarter-finals in 2015 and final again in 2016.
  • Antoine Griezmann has been directly involved in 50% of Atlético's goals in the Champions League this season, scoring seven and assisting one of Los Colchoneros' 16 goals.
  • Diego Godin has made more interceptions (37) and defensive clearances (71) than any other player in this season's Champions League.
  • Jan Oblak has made 37 saves in this season's Champions League, the joint-most alongside Manuel Neuer. 23 of his saves (62%) have come in the last four games.

Predictions

Atlético’s physical strength, commitment and togetherness is the perfect weapon to exploit Real Madrid’s lack of balance and midfield toughness.

With the individual stars they have, Real Madrid are always capable of winning any game. But if Atlético perform as they did against Barcelona and Bayern Munich then they should be getting their name on the trophy for the very first time.

Final Score – 0 : 1

Bale has a special connection to this ground. This is where he rose to stardom by scoring a hat trick against inter milan, remember it, 2010

The is inaccuracies in the information put out there. This final is the the third time teams from the same national have made it to the final. This is actually the four time; as far as my memory could serve me.
Real M- Valencia, 2000; Man U and Chelsea; Real Madrid-ATL. M, 2014; and the to days finals...

Since i'm a real fan, i hope real is going to win, but you can't think atletico is a bad team. They have good defense and they also want to win the UCL. Don't under estimate them. They are trying to win.

JUST beacause bale saved madrids butt against an Average MAN CITY and just because cr7 showed up in one leg against a midtable wolfsburg will make him decide this match you are totally wrong. Lets be real, atletico will close up the space which won't allow ronaldo orto run aka he will dissapear along with bale and ATL MAD WILL WIN...Look at the teams they faced even in gorup stage.

European and World Cup champions...since when??
The reigning European champions are Barcelona, until there is a new winner tomorrow. As to the World Cup, it is in the same hands, until there is a new winner.

OK thats fine, I wasn't saying they dont have the most cups, only mentioning the fact that they are the reigning champions at this very moment...much to your disgust.
