Match facts

Crystal Palace

  • Crystal Palace last failed to score in a Premier League match against Liverpool in December 1997 (in a 3-0 defeat), netting in each of their last nine clashes with the Reds.
  • The Eagles haven’t conceded more than once in any of their last eight home league games, conceding exactly one goal in each of their last five (W2 D1 L2).
  • Crystal Palace haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last 14 Premier League games, last stopping Everton in April.
  • Christian Benteke scored nine times in 29 Premier League games for Liverpool last season. Before joining the Reds, he had scored four times in five Premier League appearances against them.
  • Since his Premier League debut in September 2012, no player has scored more headed goals than Christian Benteke (19) – level with Olivier Giroud.

Liverpool

  • Liverpool ended a run of three successive defeats against Crystal Palace with a 2-1 victory in March. However, Christian Benteke, who scored the 90th minute winner that day, now plays for the Eagles.
  • Liverpool are without a clean sheet in their last 10 away Premier League games; only once before have they endured a longer run without a shut-out on the road, in September 1998 (12 games).
  • Liverpool have exactly the same record after nine games this season as they had in 2013/14 (W6 D2 L1).
  • Sadio Mane has scored in three of his four Premier League games against Crystal Palace.
  • Jordan Henderson has attempted 765 passes in the Premier League this season, 131 more than any other player. He has also run further than anybody else (106.5km).

Predictions

Liverpool’s excellent recent record at Selhurst Park is an eye opener, and given their expressive approach on the road they are in an excellent position here. A creditable draw with Tottenham away from home has been backed by wins at Arsenal (4-3), Chelsea (2-1) and Swansea (2-1), and if we assume the debacle at Burnley was an aberration then we can conclude that the Reds are excellent on their travels.

Crystal Palace’s 4-1 win over Stoke was something of an anomaly too – the Potteries side were very much in the doldrums at the time, and other than that the Eagles really haven’t flown on home territory: 0-1 defeats to West Brom and West Ham, and a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth, indicative of their struggles at Selhurst Park.

With all the evidence in, we are led to one clear prediction: Liverpool will surely win this match.

Crystal palace are not as tough as they used to be. I see nothing but a Liverpool victory here, it might not be an easy win, but at the end of the day they will win. Liverpool don't even a decent goal scoring striker and they are mixing it up there with best teams. They now have a pretty winnable run of game, if of course, they can avoid another unexpected upset like they did at Burnley.
