Juventus’ complete dominance against Sampdoria over the years is, while wholly expected, a nice marker for punters ahead of Wednesday night’s clash. The hosts here seem to get the better of pretty much any team in Italy, but the gulf in class between them and the visitors here is evident for all to see.
That is based on their ludicrous home record in Serie A of late: W20 D0 L0 GF46 GA6. When you look at that, it is no wonder the Old Lady has been dominant in domestic football in recent years.
So what chance do Sampdoria have? Well, at least confidence is on the rise after a little three-game unbeaten run (one win, two draws), although closer examination of their away form opens the doors of perception. Of their last trio of away ties, they have been defeated by bottom-half sides Bologna and Cagliari, and last time out stole a point from 17th placed Pescara. A trip to the Juventus Stadium is a rather ominous assignment, then.
In May the visitors were hammered 5-0 by Juventus, and given that the hosts will be desperate to return to form with a bang here, that sort of result is not out of the question once more.
