Algeria has a wonderful offense and great midfielders but their weak point their fragile defense. Also seems very irresponsible to play this keeper over m'bolhi.

Although Zimbabwe and Tunesia have played well up to know the results obtained by Algeria have been ludicrous.

How isn't that a red? That's red card 101.

I think it's new rule after last years debates. That it's a yellow card and penalty.

@_Pelle_ No, that should be a red card, even with the new rules, because he didn't try to play the ball.

On the two year trial for the 'triple punishment' Law 12 alteration: If the goalkeeper or defender in the penalty area genuinely and honestly tries to challenge for the ball then there will not be a red card any more, only a yellow card. For other instances, violent play or pulling or pushing which has nothing to do with getting the ball, there will still be a red card and a penalty. It will come into effect on 1 June, for UEFA EURO 2016 and the Copa America Centenario it will already be in effect./ FIA 5th march 2016

Referee did not see it as violent play as the tunisian player ran in front of the algerian hence it was more of an honest try by the defender to repair his own mistake. People need to be educated and check facts before spamming downvotes and go "NO you're wrong"... pfff

Dude, what you said was, and I quote "violent play or pulling or pushing", the word "violent" is only affecting the word "play". Pulling or pushing while not genuinely attempting to play the ball will get you a red card. And I do check the facts, you just can't interpret them. It wasn't an honest try to play the ball because he only used his hands, and those are the rules

"It is no longer an automatic red card if a player or goalkeeper brings down an opponent while acting as the last line of defence; where a genuine attempt has been made to play the ball, officials will be allowed to give a penalty and only book the offender. But deliberate fouls - including holding, pulling or pushing, not playing the ball, serious foul play, violent conduct or deliberate handball in order to deny a goalscoring opportunity - will still result in dismissal." - This is a skysports article. And I wasn't uneducated, I only corrected you in the nicest way possible

No I didn't say... FIFA said. And that's where we differ... I don't agree with that being violent play. He didn't intend to go for player. Referee did right imo.

You just don't understand do you? The quote you used, which was FIFA's, I didn't deny that, said "violent play or pulling or pushing", which means that you get a red card for "violent play", and you also get a red card for pulling or pushing, weither it's violent or not. He brought down the player, he didn't even use his feet, therefore he couldn't be trying to get the ball. Clear red card under the new rules, and that's not my opinion, that's just the way it is

No that's not the way it is and that's why the referee gave yellow. And to me it is a yellow according to new rules.

Dude, ok, think what you want, if you can't understand the rules it's not my problem. Next time don't assume I didn't check the facts, because everyone who watches football regularly would know these rules already, I've seen it being applied on the field many times. It's not a matter of opinion, the rules are very specific, but if you want to imagine a different rule who am I to say no...

Algeria-Zimbabwe was better. Tunisians were very ineffective against senegal and when Algeria gives away chances, this time around Tunisia did not fumble. Again defense of Algeria is way too weak. Their offense can't repair the mistakes of their defense.
