As great as messi is i'm surprised how he hasnt won anything for argentina....just look at the squad lol and put Ronaldo at that team and see the international trophies domination, unfortunate how he has to be do everything plus be lucky to win for portugal....we would have witnessed legacy of pele, marodona surpassed only if ronaldo would have had played for strong national team. It just baffles me how ppl still criticizes him.

i dont khow why he is playing Dybala and Messi on the left side, they are both better on the right side of the field.

messi drifts anywhere he wants. dybala has played everywhere. at juve he has been placed as a second striker, the main striker or a right wing. at palermo he played as the central striker and left or right wing. at instituto he was a central striker. these are literally 2 players who can play anywhere.

if they can keep the positive offense, we may have a lethal team in preparation for world cup. who knows it will finally give messi the honour he deserved in national teams, the world cup trophy. here's hoping

I can see many positive aspect on argentina team, the defensive players like the no.17.no.4 and rb no.16 are all new guys , but they displayed good game.

passing was better, especially after higuain came off and j.correa entered. the 3 defenders at the back is new for argentina, caused some nervy movements. However, with more playing time, they should get used to the system and be more relaxed in their passing at the back.

it's true. di maria gets bashed often by individuals who don't understand football. The reality is, he's vital for Argentina, he gives us speed and spontaneity. We also saw these same qualities in J.Correa today.

Youre absolutely crazy if you think so. I wont doubt Di Maria is important but he can also be a huge liability when he is ineffective. This was his problem in Real Madrid. When he played well, he was unstoppable, but when he wasn't he was near useless. Dont put him in the same level as Messi for Argentina cause out of all the games Messi has been out for the WCQ, Di Maria never stepped up once to prove himself.

di maria is a huge reason we made it to the WC final and the first copa america final. he was just as vital as messi. he was a huge loss when he didn't play either final. there's a problem with people who think players need to "step up". he's a class player, who plays on either flank extremely well. you can't blame him and say that he need to step up. the team needed to step up collectively, and they couldn't because of the coach's style at the time.

make it to a final that you can watch before criticizing others. argentina has won the olympics with this squad, they've one under - 20 with this squad/ they've made it to 3 major finals with this squad. won 2 WC, approx. 20 copas. england? lol. i'm talking about a final you watched, not a final your grandfather watched bahaha

England to win the World Cup?
Last time England couldn't beat Costa Rica let alone a big team, they couldn't survive the group stage.

Argentina has more talent than England any day of the week.

Lol, I only got a snapshot of the first half and from that I could tell that Argentina is as promising as they were with Sabella. Defense looks more composed on the ball, the two midfielders (in particularly Banega) look to be controlling that midfield for Argentina. Sampaoli even took out Higuain, which is something Tata and Bauza would not have done. A world cup is not a world cup without Argentina, which is something I can't say for England unfortunately.

Although England look like they have a bigger chance of getting there, they probably don't have that chance of winning.

If it was so, then Argentina could won without Messi in the last game against Bolivia! But they lost 2-0 and di maria didn't do anything! Messi is the only chance for Argentina to enter World Cup

Brazil missed some starting players like Ney and Marcelo, but considering Brazil's form and the fact that this was Argentina's first match with a new manager and playing a different formation, I'm happy with the result.
