Match facts

Real Madrid

  • Real Madrid have won four of their seven European matches against Atlético, losing only one, and have ended theircity rivals' UEFA Champions League hopes in each of the last three seasons.
  • This is a fifth European tie for Real Madrid and Atlético, all in the European Cup, with Madrid having won all four previous ties.
  • Madrid are through to their seventh successive UEFA Champions League semi-final, a competition record. It will betheir 12th semi-final appearance in total, also a record, one more than FC Barcelona.
  • Real's home record in European Cup semi-finals is W18 D6 L3. They are unbeaten in their last five home games in the semi-finals (W4 D1).
  • Zidane's men are unbeaten in this season's competition (W7 D3) and have won all four of their outings in the current knockout stage.
  • Zidane never lost to Atlético during his playing days with Madrid, winning six and drawing two out of eight encounters.
  • Ronaldo has netted 18 goals in 27 games against Atlético, hitting a hat-trick in a 4-1 Liga triumph on 11 April 2012 and in this season's Liga but being sent off after scoring in Madrid's 2-1 Copa del Rey final loss in 2012/13.

Atletico Madrid

  • This is Atlético's sixth European Cup semi-final (W3 D2) and their third in four years.
  • Atlético are unbeaten in the home legs of all five of their European Cup semi-finals (W4 D1) and have never conceded a goal at home. The lone draw came in the first leg of their 2013/14 tie against Chelsea, when they went onto win 3-1 away.
  • The Rojiblancos have won ten and drawn six of their 22 UEFA Champions League away games since September 2013. All six defeats came by a one-goal margin.
  • Aside from the 1959 tie with Madrid, Atlético's only other previous European semi-final against a fellow Spanish outfit came in the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League, when they beat Valencia 5-2 over two legs (4-2 h, 1-0 a).
  • Simeone's men have kept nine clean sheets in their last 13 fixtures in all competitions, conceding just four goals.
  • Griezmann has bagged 16 Liga goals this season, still six shy of what he managed the previous two campaigns.

Predictions

Perhaps Zinadine Zidane will be wary of how dangerous Atletico can be if they go ahead though. The visitors would love to hit Real Madrid on the counter-attack, grab a goal and then park the bus to stop Cristiano Ronaldo and co getting on the score-sheet.

Atletico - who are on a fantastic run away from home with no defeats since December - might take an early chance against a slightly nervous Real Madrid defence and look to revert to type in terms of their solid, defensive approach.

Final Score – 1 : 1

it don't matter if Atletico players are injured, okay lets say they help a little better, but don't forget that Real Madrid is the best team in the world we won Bayern Munich the 2nd hardest, Even if they would have all players Real Madrid will just play harder we can do anything. Sorry Atletico fans just switch to Real Madrid we are the best we love everyone. Ronaldo you can do it.

Idiots do you realize RM has the greatest bench ever compared to any team in Europe and gimenez out for both games in addition to above list who is a regular starter for ATM.. and Bale is out big damage but they have enough replacements from bench and Pepe is not a starter for Zidane though when team plays on counter like ATM...

What diehardbarca is trying to say without giving our rivals any credit is that Real Madrid is the better team hence why they have a greater squad depth lmao
