Match facts

Deportivo La Coruna

  • Deportivo have last bagged any points against Real Madrid in a goalless draw back in 2011, despite netting four goals in their last two matchups.
  • Porto were the only team to beat Deportivo in pre-season, with West Brom (2-0) and Tenerife (3-0) beaten in their two most recent friendlies.
  • Emre Colak starts the season suspended, while Carles Gil picked up a groin injury in pre-season. Guilherme and Fabian Schar are among those awaiting debuts.

Real Madrid

  • Three of their last four head-to-head encounters have ended as high-scoring clashes with five or more goals total, where Real Madrid bagged comfortable wins on all occasions.
  • Real Madrid had the best away record in La Liga last season, winning 15 of their 19 games and scoring 58 goals - including six at Deportivo.
  • Karim Benzema got his first goal of the season in the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup and the French striker will want to improve on his 19 goals in all competitions last season.

Predictions

Real Madrid have a great record at Deportivo, and that is likely to continue on Sunday as they look to kick-off the La Liga season with a big win.
