I envy Napoli. Their fixed and well-trained 4-3-3 formation, their non-changing-every-game starting lineup, their serious head coach, their position in the league table, everything...

Get over it, my friend. What's done is done. 2 games vs Sweden aren't the whole reason we didn't make the world cup. It has been coming for a long time.

Bro...Im pissed Italy are not in the WC. But Italy is plagued by stupidity and we only play "experience" and it finally caught up with us.
Italian clubs invest in Brazilian flops, instead of developing youth like Bernardeschi The league may be on a high and or coming back but its not being done the correct way, too many foreigners if you as a fanatic of the National Team such as meself.
Also Sweden have a good squad, not just because they beat Holland, Framce, and Italy but they have Foresberg, Lindelof and very bright YOUNG players. botton line is Italy do not play young players unless its Verratti who always gets suspended for stupid midget slide tackles.
And yes, the 3-5-2 was dumb, but Conte excelled with it, its the players not always the system. Cheers mate.

...Ran out of room to write.....Serie A is coming back but as I said not enough Italians are playing. Every club in Italy to a certain degree models itself after the King on the hill, Juventus, they have a great squad, albeit weaker than last season, however Clubs like Udinese who have maybe one Italian player have taken the marketing style of Juve. Thats why we need more clubs like Sassuolo, Atalanta, Torino and AC Milan to play Italians week in week out. None of the teams at the top have more than three Italians in the starting line up (Juve being an acceptation since Buffon, Chiellini, Barzagli retired from International duty, Marchisio never plays anymore)

SSC Napoli, Insigne, Jorgihno
Juve, Bernardeschi, Maybe Marchisio
AS Roma, El Shaaraway, Pellegrini (De Rossi retired from international duty)
Inter, Eder, Candreva, Gagliardini (D'ambrosio and Santon dont cut it for Italy)
SS Lazio, Immobile, Muriga
WHERE ARE THE ITALIANS??????

@Cuore_Granata You my man are talking hardcore B.S.! You're obviously easily influenced by watch you see & hear in the media, and the thing that sounds honest to you, is also reasonable! Too many foreigners? What a crap?! You're repeating the words of that Serie B coach and his statement b4 the 2nd leg with Sweden! That's BULLSHIT!
If there is one thing that foreign players were always bringing to Italian football, it was QUALITY & BEAUTY IN THE GAME! It's always been, it'll always be! Don't blame them for FGIC & Ventura's stupidity! Look at all the major teams in Italy, they're all run by Italian coaches! In fact, Serie A has less than 3 foreign coaches, 7 THEY DETERMINE what kinda football will be played! Serie A has more than 1/3 Italian players, most of them young! SO shut up!

@cuore_granata. As it stands, 55% of the players playing in Serie are 'foreign'. Considerably higher than La Liga and Bundesliga, despite those 2 particular leagues doing a lot better than Serie A teams in European competitions over the past decade+. Furthermore, both leagues are also ranked higher in the UEFA coefficients. Serie A's problem isn't so much foreign players, but the lowering of the quality of foreign players that the league can now afford. Personally, I'm of the belief that if Italian youngsters are good enough, then they'd play. But how many elite / world class players do we have? NONE. We have some good-sh players, but this is certainly the 1st period in my lifetime when we really lack genuine world class players. Despite it all, we should've still qualified. No excuse.

Milanlamiavita, you are making my point by the statistics of Italian players. The two other leagues are doing better than Serie A, making my point of not enough Italians.
I have been saying this for years that not enough play, Thays why it's nice when they play.

@Cuore_Granta. I fully agree that if its more than 50 percent, it is indeed too much. But. You'll also have to agree the quality of players we've been producing over the past decade have just not been good enough. We lack a single world class player. Certainly unheard of in my lifetime. I like Immobile, and he's doing well. But he's playing for Lazio, who will all due respect will not win serie a. We don't have quality up and coming players fighting for top honors. Sad times.

I agree they arnt good enough. However, it would help if our pool was deeper like that of Spain, France, or Germany. Also Conte did well with a averge team at the euros, again, it would help if we had more Italians.

Tavecchio's first choice was Donadoni. I think had Donadoni taken the job, we would've still qualified. He was unfairly removed the first time around, in a decision which in my opinion started the decline. Italy did OK in euro 2008, and only lost to spain on penalties, despite creating numerous opportunities. They removed him, reinstated Lippi who was over the hill like many of the players he picked for the 2010 disastrous campaign.

No mate, we got raped and pillaged by Holland, tied Romania only cuz Buffon had a miracle save against Mutu's penalty, beat France, job well done there, and tied Spain and went out on penalties. That;s one win out of four games, might be good enough for you but that does not cut it for me.
Yes we got out of the group but we were inferior in three out of four games, NOT GOOD.
We can bring Conte, Ancelotti, or whoever, things won't change unless our league policy does by playing more Italians.

Don't allow Romagnoli's wonder strike distract you from the reality. We got outsmarted and beaten by a Napoli team playing in second gear.
