Stones wasn't a red, hit his crotch. The foul was on edge inside of the box and Napoli played on.

Last season was the first season in 4 years that Pep didn't stroll to the title. Instead, he came 3rd, scraping past Liverpool.

He also won 6 out of 6 at the start of last season, too. Then things changed.

You know nothing about the Premier League. :)

Inconsistent last 35 minutes. They have to do more to reign their third title.

Outclassed for 35 minutes... Teams will have momentum shifts. The game goes for 90'. Napoli were also awarded two penalties. There's No excuses. Zilch. Zero.

Napoli outclassed city from the 35 min. I wish they had not conceded 2 in the first 14mins.

Stop lying to yourself. They certainly got better but they didn't outclass them by any stretch. Those 2 penalties were there only 2 real chances (besides the stones block but that was city mistake not a chance Napoli created) while city could have had 4 at least if they finished their chances. Not to mention the first penalty was completely unjust and even though Ederson saved it it gave Napoli momentum.

They should have won had they had outclassed them true, but in terms of open play and pressing they did. Outclassing in terms of the type of the game that both teams play is what I implied. In the first 35 mins, City were beasts, I trembled everytime they attacked. The first one was a penalty. That City defender was trying to suplex Albiol.

Was not a penalty should have been a free kick to city because walker was just holding mertens and mertens literally leaned back into him on his jump and made a meal of the fall. Glad they didn't score from that pen. City were by no means outclassed. They had 2 1v1s (Sane and Jesus) that they missed which would have made it 4-1 while Napoli didn't have a real chance besides the stones blocks and the penalty.

@ T1lt3d I'm not saying that he's right by saying Napoli outclassed Man-City! It's a fact that they were the better team, especially in the 2nd half, but outclassed them? If that's the case, then City humiliated Napoli in the 1st 30 minutes! But that's not the case, the truth is that both teams proved why at this very moment, they're playing THE BEST FOOTBALL in the world, and no one else (not even Barca) comes close to these two - that's the truth!
P.S. Also, both City goals were as a result of Napoli's clear mistakes, especially the second, which R. Albiol should've cleaned it without an effort, but he didn't, and Jesus just pushed into the goal!
That's it! Napoli only have themselves to blame, for not being efficient enough. And to make things worse, Shaktar are doing great!

Ignore blatant dive for the first penalty? Even the commentators seemed shocked it was given.

Injured during a car crash.
Best not to stress the situation.
When Aguero walks back into the squad they will be a force of nature!

I don't know why Sarri didn't play Jorginho, 'cause it was obvious where was the problem in the 1st half - Zielinski & Hamsik were practically invisible, and in those moments when he would play with the ball, Hamsik was only making mistakes! After Allan got in in the 2nd half, everything changed!
Also, everyone who's following Napoli and knows football for real, knew that Hysaj is the weak link in Napoli's system - knowing that he won't be able to handle a strong left winger, like Sanne is, which proved on the pitch this match! Albiol also made a few crucial mistakes 1st half, one of them resulting with the 2nd goal, and as the icing on the nightmare, Mertens showed us that he's not up for the highest level - MUSTN'T MISS THAT PENALTY - It was a game changer!
The final result is real.

I agree, good points. Sarri does not care so much about Champions league which is sad. He was trying to rotate the squad for upcoming Inter match. But the real worry is the extent of Insigne's injury. To be fair, SSC Napoli have a thin squad especially with the Milik injury.

What a performance from Ederson though, stopped a pen and guessed the right direction of the second one. Wonder if he will grow to become one of the finest goalkeeper in the world. :)

Couldn't agree more! He was the difference of one goal more for City tonight! The boy was simply perfect, and stopped so many potential goals for Napoli (I'm not talkin only about the direct saves, but the numerous interceptions he made, especially from the balls that are coming towards the strikers from behind - something which Napoli does constantly and scores a lot of goals this way).
City have to thank him for this win - and as everything abovesaid, it's not only 'cause of the saved penalty! City definitely have one of the 5 best keepers in the world!

Well, is there anyone who was expecting anything less from the two teams in the world that are (by far) playing the best & most attractive football in Europe right now?! And also, the leaders of their home leagues (and most likely, the new champions in their own countries)?
Luckily for us, we'll all have the pleasure of watching them playing each other again, only in a week or two!
A holiday for every true football aficionado!

The better team from the 35th minute, missed a penalty and denied what should've been a penalty and red card by john stones playing goal keeper. On another night, even a point would've been harsh. All of that whilst resting two first choice midfielders.

Lol clear bias which is obvious that you'd want the Italian side to win but don't lie to yourself m8. First penalty was a joke and would have robbed the game from city if ederson hadn't saved it. 2nd one was the right call but those were the only 2 meaningful chances Napoli had the whole game. City dominated from the beginning, Napoli came back and played very well but they definitely were not dominant or even better than city. 2-1 is a fair score.

Uh no that ball hit him on the hip if anything. Looked like a handball at first I'll admit but one of the replay angles showed quite clearly that it wasn't

In any case great game overall. Think Napoli kinda deserved to get away with a draw in the end though but both these teams should be able to make it to the next round anyway (though Napoli has to make up for their loss to Shaktar in their return leg against them)

I couldn't care less about EPL and watched the game just to see Pep's progress. This is to show I have no bias. You MUST be legally blind to NOT see that the ball DID NOT touch Stone's arm! Go see an ophthalmologist!
