it's shameful that messi doesn't get every accolade, prize, award every year. everyone's going to look back years from now and realize that there will be no one better, ever.

messi is the greatest ever, I wish he had a stronger national team like France or Portugal so he could win big trophy with his country. Too bad he's stuck with argentine where there's no talented player around him :(

Hahaha deluded Portugal is worse than argentina . Argentina has many star players like aguero, higuain, dynala, di Maria, otamendi, rojo, icardi, tevez

Portugal won Euro final against France without Cr7. And Argentina wouldn't even be in the World cup, had it not been for Messi who saved them at the very last. So the deluded one is you. But then again you're 4rsenal fan so no suprise. We Bayern miss you in the CL ;)

This is the problem with the current format. Too many poor, hapless and out of their depth teams in the group stage. It just becomes a walk in the park for the bigger teams. Feyenoord as an example got smashed all over the place last season. Regrettably, the Dutch league is woeful when it comes to quality these days. The max number of teams allowed into the champions league from Nederlands should be restricted to one. That messi second goal a good example - just too easy.

Messi is a new type of player, a player which a team is built around like no other in history. We will never know because he will likely never move from Barca but you see it in Argentina. He is completely reliant on Genius passers like Rakitic (Xavi, Iniesta...), admirably unselfish strikers who are killers in their own right but know how to assist him and move to make way for him like Suarez (Villa, Sanchez...) a crazy solo Goal by some youngster to make it 2-0 and make the rest of the game garbage time... So yeah his goals are beautiful, not tap ins... But I want to see Messi preform for Argentina! and I want to see him score hattricks on UCL knockouts when Barcelona are behind.... Oh and Dembele > Mbappe

Lol dembele is nowhere near mbappe. Mbappe has scored against the world's biggest clubs ( man city, Dortmund, juventus, bayern, Liverpool) and also a pivotal part of France winning world cup most notably vs argentina and Croatia. Dembele has done close to nothing

what the hell are you smoking? you think Barcelona squad is scheming day in and out on how to pad Messi's stats? Argentina is terrible and he took them to the world cup final. Since when did loyalty to a club become a weakness? Go watch tapaldo choke in seria A and never speak again.

Think before you write. Messi got argentina to a world cup final and 2 copas in the last 4 years. Messi has proved he's the best all year round by winning the league most seasons. And Messi has played in champions league quarter finals not fully fit like last year or wrecked from international duty along with his other south American teammates against atletico and juve in recent years. He is the goat because he has the ability of xavi and iniesta along with his own

Messi didn't score in the knockout stage for argentina in 2014 how on earth did Messi exactly carry argentina to a world cup final? Argentina just rode their luck nothing to do with messi

1. I am smoking good stuff, but not as good as the stuff you have in Canada... 2. All I am saying is that Messi's genius is reliant on the genius of others... It's not a bad thing... Just pointing out, as a beautiful thing actually, that his teammates are basically underrated, nothing negative about him. But it is his only weakness, otherwise he is godly. Let's see in march. 3. As for Mbappe, I just believe he's way overrated because he did not impress me since Monaco. What did he do in the world cup? Sprint really fast to win a penalty? Score in the final to make it 4-1 with a shit defender blocking the goalkeepers view and not closing him down at all? Perisic outdid Kante, the best DM around to make it 1-1. That's impressive for me.

Well he brought mediocre Argentina to 4 straight international finals, they lost them all but Wc was lost in E.T, 2 Copa America’s we’re lost on PK’s. He got unlucky and if Higuain has not ruined some finals he would be already crowned. That’s really restrictive of Messi potential, he has been carrying Barça for years after Xavi-Iniesta departure. In knock out stages he drops back and assist something only him could do, now with Dembele/Coutinho sharing this duty I don’t see he would not capitalize on easy tap ins... he is the sharpest in the world in front of goal look at goals per shot stats...

Well Messi definetly singlehandedly got them out of the group in 2014 with 3 of his 4 goals being individual goals. He also made the goal for di maria in the second round and had a big part in the goal against Belgium

Deluded ? Higuain tevez Icardi Aguero all play in same position, their squad is unbalanced and when Messi stopped NT they we’re almost out of this CL. Without him they lost 4-2 to Nigeria and 6-1 to Spain. Portugal were able to win euro final in France against the hosts without CR. Get your facts straight or stop commenting....

Who cares if the midfielders are so shit might as well play 4-3-3 with di Maria left wing, higuain striker, Messi right wing, aguero cam, dybala centre mid, icardi centre mid idiot

There's no doubt who's the greatest player in the world and possibly in the history of football and anyone who doubts that is just a hater and doesn't truly understand football.
Enjoying every moment of Messi playing because it won't be long when we can't see that greatness at such high level on the pitch anymore.

They still dont gonna win CL. Im sorry. With Suarez on the team. If they got Griezmann in the transfer, everybody will have feared facing Barca. But with fat old, slow Suarez in decline. the goals he gonna score is tap ins or header. He looks soo heavy

I don't think anyone is near to Messi's level in terms of overall football. I'd be surprised if Messi had another talent other than football.

Even after went down to ten men, Barca still dominated. Simply showed that they are on higher level than PSV. Their only weakness is the quick counter attack. Lozano is very quick. He even outpaced Alba.
