Taking nothing away from Real Madrid. Brilliant and experienced bunch of champions who know how to win. But for Roma, well this is all of their own making. Season after season, they weaken themselves by selling their best players and then replacing them with cheaper and lower quality alternatives. And when the cheaper replacements somehow are polished into a decent player, they just do it to then sell them on as a profit. This season though, it has caught up with them. It does to every team with this sort of policy. Atalanta currently going through the same rough spell. The players bought this summer - Nzonzi, Karsdorp, Marcano, Cristante, Santon FFS are just not good enough. Nainngolan and Strootman's experience will cost them champions league football. A really sad policy for a fan.

Could have been 7-0, Asensio deserved that goal, such a shame he didn't get it :(
Good job Madrid, I loved watching this game, keep it up!

Why Marcelo wasn't credited with an assist on Diaz's goal?

FireBraguette, Either it's a mistake, or they have a rule which I wouldn't have been aware of stating that if the goal is scored against the run of play then there is no assist i.e. because Diaz pulled the ball backwards away from the opponent's goal and then shot, there is no assist.

@milansokolovski doesn't really roll off the tongue, does it? I mean, your explanation makes sense, but I dont think the thing you're describing does - it's still an assist, even if he has 3 touches on the ball.

Roma just likes to make it more challenging when they play at home. Now it is 3-0 so when they go home they will win 4-0.

Roma & their policy (Monchi at the top of it) of SUPERMARKET, selling all their best player, EACH YEAR, are a disgrace for the Italian football! Does THIS look like the team that were semi-finalists last year (& if there was justice, they should've been in the finals)? I don't think so... Changing THE ENTIRE MIDFIELD with a completely new players... It's simply UNACCEPTABLE! That's why they'll NEVER EVER be a great team, but only wanna-be! And someone wonders how come they lost from Milan, draw with CHievo this weekend?!
What else do you expect?!
And when I come to think that they're blaming Di Francesco for the weak form?!
You could put Pep, Sarri, Zidane, Allegri... ALL OF THEM TO BE A TEAM OF COACHES for Roma, and NOTHING ELSE BUT THIS will happen, with their SUPERMARKET POLICY!

@the_bald_genius I must admit, your name 'suits you perfectly'. Obviously you understand the point of my comment, and that's why you even mentioned last year's win over Barca....
There's (literally) nothing left for me to say any more!

Dimitri7 I get your point and I have to agree sadly. They sold too many of their good players and now have to cope with nonames in the midfield without the necessary quality nor the experience. Sad. And I also agree that the_bald_genius is totally off base with his senseless comment.

your butter comment is more baseless. just because roma sell players doesn't mean its the end of the world. they are not rich club simple as, defeat from madrid and complain wtf? roma lost to ucl winners, levels sunshine. nameless midfield nzonzi and perotti is still someone? lol don't act like your club is as rich as united.

I basically wrote the exact same comment and then saw yours. It was going to catch up with them. I don't think the replacement keeper is a bad keeper, but the midfield has been weakened catastrophically. Can no longer rely on De Rossi's ageing legs and the loss of Nainngolan and Strootman will prove to be massive. Pellegrini - massively overrated. Nzonzi doesn't look suited to serie A and Pastore is not the player than left Palermo for PSG. You know they've weakened considerably when El Sha is in the starting lineup. Schick and Under also haven't developed like expected. I think selling Defrel was a big mistake.

And you know what's the saddest reality? It will be Di Francesco who pays for the performances of a weakened team. It won't be Monchi, with the apparent Midas touch or the fountain jumping Pallotta, who essentially are the architects of this downfall. They'll sack Di Francesco. That's why Spalletti left. He knew he'd never get continuity.

Why are the muppets and uneducated of the world always the loudest? Roma's revenue from the past year equates to nearly 200 million euro. The club's growth rate is at over 40 percent. Being able to survive? What in the name of god are you talking about? Roma is a big city and the club's average attendance is over 35K. Who on earth do you think Roma are? Survive what? They're a profit making club, you pleb.

nah not as stable as juventus yet, besides it's going to be hard offer to make alisson stay, naingolan its an odd one I agree but nzonzi isn't bad either. the front 3 haven't change from last season and plus kluivert so I don't understand the moaning you twat. you think all that 200 million just go to players there are staff and infra to feed sunshine.

Who on earth compared Roma to Juventus? Do you understand what a 40 percent growth rate means? That means that when at evens (to not make a loss), the club is at 40 percent growth! The 200 million revenue also comes in at a very healthy state, given that Roma don't have bad debt! No club in the world is stupid enough to turn down nearly 70m pounds for a goalkeeper who had one full season under his belt! El sha is never first choice and under only did well In the second half of last season! Their issue is that not only have they lose quality defensively, but massively weakened their midfield! This has happened season after season!

I compare with juventus simple, both are playing in the same league. if you compare the transfer market with relation to their revenue there is a proportion difference. 40% growth rate what info is that lol with no prove?

"No club in the world is stupid enough to turn down nearly 70m pounds for a goalkeeper who had one full season under his belt!" so why are you complaining you contradict your own argument about transfer policy.

Thats their project rn. Hence why they brought in Monchi. Buy low sell high.

There's a good reason why they (began) calling them SUPERMARKET TEAM!
Monchi did the same thing in Sevilla, and came to Rome to do the same thing, only on a higher, and more expensive level! That's why Barca fans better pray for him not to come to Barcelona (as the rumors are speculating these days).

it has to do with stages. who knows whats happening behind the scenes. Lots of clubs go through that when not being able to compete with high spending clubs (Monaco, Dortmund) or just when not thats their model. (Porto, Benfica, Ajax). Maybe in a couple years when things stabilize and they fulfill their off the pitch projects, theyll change their targets.
