Nothing to watch here. The top Greek club defeated a mid-table English team. Nothing special.

I'm just wondering what the score would have be if Man U had faced Real Madrid at this stage lol

10-0 minimum. Man U have no clue, and the team spirit now has hit a new bottom

Your job now is to support your new manager. We are not Chelsea, we are not Man City, we are not PSG, we are not Real Madrid. We have history. If you don't want to support Manchester United, don't support Manchester United. I'm sick of you girls crying like B...CHES.

I was waking up hoping I would see headlines for moyes being sacked...very disappointed. The players and coaching staff should be embarrassed of this performance.

EPL is still the best league in the world. Top to bottom. Recently, top clubs from Spain and Germany have surpassed top English teams. Let us not forget English teams made 7 straight finals. England also have the most number of teams that have won it, and would have the most wins overall if it wasn't for Heysel. That's the cycle, Italy dominated in the 90's, England in the 00's, and looks like Spain or Germany in the 10's.

EPL the best league in the world?! Hahahahahaha! This can only be said by people that have no knowledge of football. To be considered the best, you have to show that you are the best; and nothing has been shown from the English teams apart from words from their fans... If you were to compare English football to Spanish football, you will understand that what you call "the best in the world", in Spain is considered as mediocre. For example, Real Madrid has had more European success than all the English teams combined; Barcelona has been a revolution of modern football; Spain as a national team has won the European and World cups, and so on... Your strategy is to keep repeating your bullsh!t until you start believing in it, so that you can comfort yourselves.

Real Madrid have won 9 Champions Leagues and 2 Europa Leagues, English Teams have won 12 Champions Leagues and 7 Europa Leagues, therefore Real Madrid have NOT had more European success that all the English teams combined. EPL is the best league in the world for entertainment, who said anything about quality, we have had 3/4 pushing for the title, 3/4 pushing for 4th,5th and 6th spot, we have the best relegation battles, we get smaller clubs beating bigger clubs every week and we have the thrill of watching Cup ties with upsets on a regular basis...... There is simply no better league for entertainment.

@Alb 5 different English teams have won the UCL/European Cup. Liverpool 5, Man U 3, Nottingham Forest 2, Aston Villa 1, Chelsea 1. That's 12. Madrid has 9. I know with the economic situation in Spain kids are not getting the same education as before, but this is basic arithmetic. Also, Barcelona got their philosophy from Ajax/Netherland's total football. Nothing innovative. Johan Cruyff brought that philosophy to Barca and was later perfected. While on the subject Spain has 13 European Cups/UCL, 9 by Madrid, 4 by Barcelona. Only two teams. That's why I said top to bottom. Considering English teams started participating 1 year after European Cup was introduced and were banned for 5/6 years after Heysel disaster, you should have more than 1 cup advantage. Kid, don't try to teach me footy.

Real Madrid have won 11 European Cups (No European Cups in the last 11 years), English teams combined have won 19 European Cups. Any more bullshit you want to get out of your system???

"@Alb"... Of course it is. Their isnt any other league in the world as competitive. Worst of all, this comes from a barca fan. From a country where 2 teams seem to thrive despite the economic crash. Madrid buys their way to compete. and both your teams enjoy raping all of the other smaller teams and keeping them below you. most of madrids european cups came during a time where football was nowhere near a competitive. to me, nothing really counts untill the late 70s and on. as a league, please tell me the last time when 3 spanish teams reached the semi final of the champions league together?

whats even more annoying is that if barca or Real played in the EPL, i garantee you that they would have a harder time competing in europe simultaneously as well. you dont get much rest in the EPL buddy

English people have a very high reputation of failing when attempting to be humorous. Considering your average IQ score, I think it would be beyond your capacity to discuss topics of a more complex nature, such as economics or mathematics, so let's concentrate on football.

Alb 10 years ago
My reply was based in accordance to the 00's, for which you considered the English clubs to be dominant. During this golden era of English football, only two English teams have managed to win the UEFA Champions League - Liverpool in 2005, and Manchester United in 2008. Liverpool has not participated in the UEFA Champions League recently, thus for a moment I did failed to remember their achievements.
0
Alb 10 years ago
Read Madrid has won it in the year 2000, and 2002, which is "equally as good" as all English teams combined (according to my weak arithmetic calculations). Barcelona have also managed to win this major European football tournament twice during the 00's (in the year 2006, and 2009). Whatever English football club's dominance you are referring to in the 00's, is beyond my understanding.
0
Alb 10 years ago
Barcelona's style of football was not replicated, as tika-taka defers from total football. "British football experts" refer to Barcelona's style of play as "football from another planet". Barcelona's football style has been a revolution to modern football, and there is little one can doubt on regards to what their recent achievements demonstrate.

@abd7791, let's not base our argument on suppositions and uncertainties, but rather on actual facts. If you are unaware of when the last time three Spanish teams reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, that was in the year 2000 (a period which is referred to as the English club golden era by Truth)

@alb. you cannot say Reals success in the 2000's is as much as all english teams combined. you can compare manchester with real because ManU won it once and were runners up twice. (they even won it in 1999/2000). Back to the 2000's 3 english teams have won it and were runners up 5 times. While barca and real won it 5 times, and neither of them runners up within that time frame. When we talk about league dominance, we mention how over the past couple years, on many occasions, at least 3 of the top 4 english teams were consistently in the quarter finals. but regardless of whatever we are arguing about right now, it all seems quite moot, because CL cup wins isn't the only factor that labels the level of competitiveness of an entire league, (which was the initial argument in the first place).

barca and real are the entire league's life line, while 4 different english clubs have reached the finals on 8 different occaissons. il give you your glory by saying that both spanish teams won it 5 times, while 3 english clubs won it 4 times. other than that. stfu
0
Alb 10 years ago
@abd7791, first of all, the "Saudi Arabia" tag reflects a respected Muslim culture, and I am sure that "stfu" is not part of it. So be careful with your language!!! Nothing that you have said is accurate! When referring to dominance (it's clear that you don't understand it's meaning), we are not talking about the runners-up... But anyhow, just so that you know, English teams were runners-up four times, not five. In the 00's (it's also clear that you don't understand the starting and finishing points of this timeline), only two English teams have won the UCL, not three. Manchester United have not won the UCL in 99/00, Read Madrid have - beating Valencia (UCL runners-up twice during the 00's) in the final.
0
Alb 10 years ago
2007, 2008, 2009 were the 3 years during the 00's that 3+ English teams reached the quarter finals (winning only one title in 2008. In 2007, Milan beat both Manchester and Liverpool, and In 2009 the title was won by Barcelona), while 3+ Spanish teams have reached the quarter-finals in 4 years during the 00's: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, winning two titles. So for the last time, English teams have NOT been dominant in the 00's (Spanish teams have!), nor the 80's, 90's, 10's, and never will they be in the near future (at least not in football).

I hate United's game play now. ITs just cross cross cross cross cross and more shitty crosses. No shots from outside the 18, no more trying to go through the middle, just give evra, smalling, valencia or young to flog in a shitty cross that no one heads .smh.

any decent team is better then "CHELSEA NOT CHELSHIT", they play the most unnatractive style of football of any team. They score scrappy goals then put everyone on their team in defense. And plus the fans are fucking idiots
