Match facts

Manchester City

  • City's most recent victory, home or away, against an Italian team was the 3-0 triumph against AC Milan in the 1978/79 UEFA Cup third round, which secured a 5-2 aggregate success. Brian Kidd, now assistant manager, scored in both legs.
  • Manchester City have not won their opening home group stage fixture in three previous attempts.
  • Kolarov made 82 Serie A appearances and scored six goals for Lazio (2007–10). He played in four Rome derbies, winning two and losing two, and scored in a 4-2 home success over the Giallorossi in April 2009.
  • Pellegrini and Zabaleta are available after serving one-game bans on matchday one.

AS Roma

  • The Giallorossi opened their Group E campaign with a 5-1 home win against CSKA Moscow.
  • Roma have won only once in 14 previous visits to England – 1-0 at Liverpool FC in the 2000/01 UEFA Cup fourth round.
  • Their most recent visit to England brought a 1-1 draw at Fulham FC in the 2009/10 UEFA Europa League group stage.
  • Having finished last season with three defeats, Roma have opened their Serie A campaign with five consecutive victories. They won a league record ten straight games at the beginning of last term.

Predictions

Manchester City were unfortunate to come away from the Allianz Arena empty-handed a fortnight ago, but will need to put that behind them and concentrate on getting a result here.

That will be no easy task against a Roma side who are top of Serie A and have won all 6 of their matches in all competitions this season, including a romping 5-1 win over CSKA Moscow to put them top of Group E.

City have been scoring freely again recently, but breaking down Roma will prove more difficult and the Italians could even come away with a point.

Final Score – 1 : 1

Next season 2015/16 Manchester United is going to take tha FA Cup, EPL Champion, Capital One Cup and Champions League under LvG... No team can beat MU in the next 2yrs bcz it is going to be very solid, even R.Madrid and Barca. MARK MY WORDS ! After 3 years of LvG, the undespicable Ryan Giggs steps in...the new SAF... You all will hate but thats how its gonna be, whether you like or not ! You all are afraid bcz you already imagined the situation, Yeah ! So long suckers...
