Fabregas to United? Plus other rumours...

The former Arsenal midfielder, now back at boyhood club Barcelona, is attracting interest and a possible £25m bid is in the offing, according to the Sunday Express.

26-year-old Fabregas has ‘struggled to impose himself’ at the Nou
Camp, the paper says, and while he has occasionally been deployed in a
striker’s role, the arrival of Neymar will only limit those opportunities.

Arsenal have first refusal if Barcelona decide to sell him,
and the Gunners would surely move to bring back their hugely popular
former captain should the opportunity arise.

But according to the Express Fabregas is more inclined to follow his old team-mate Robin Van Persie to Old Trafford in search of a new challenge.

Fabregas’ arrival would be a statement of intent from Moyes, who is looking to reinforce a midfield shorn of the retired Paul Scholes and the ill Darren Fletcher. But if he cannot pull off that move, he is also believed to be keen to move for Luka Modric, who is attracting interest from Chelsea, or equally to raid former club Everton for Marouane Fellaini.

The Sunday Mirror claim Fellaini is the key target, and will cost
United £24m. They also add that Moyes remains intent on brokering a
peace deal that will keep striker Wayne Rooney at the club next season.

The Sunday Telegraph, meanwhile, suggest that Real Madrid will tempt Tottenham to sell Gareth Bale by tabling a £60m bid. Zinedine Zidane has
already paid tribute to Bale and suggested the Welshman was ‘more than
good enough’ for the Bernabeu, and with the club missing out on Neymar,
the pressure is on club president Florentino Perez to deliver a big-name summer signing to coincide with the expected arrival of Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Across the road at Arsenal, the Gunners are preparing for their first signing of the summer. Arsene Wenger is keen on a goalkeeper, and the Sunday Mirror claim his top target is Sunderland’s Simon Mignolet, who will cost around £10m of Wenger’s reported £70m transfer kitty.

Ashley Williams of Swansea is also set to move to the
Emirates, according to The Sun on Sunday. The Gunners will open the
bidding at around £8m, but the Swans will hold out for nearer to £12m.
The deal will pave the way for club captain Thomas Vermaelen to leave, the paper adds, with Barcelona and Napoli interested in the Belgian.

And talking of Belgians, there’s good news for Romelu Lukaku, whose career at Chelsea apparently looks brighter under Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese coach reportedly believes he can turn Lukaku into the new Didier Drogba, and does not want the 20-year-old to disappear on loan for another season.

But despite that, The Sun reports that the Blues are still set on signing a big-name striker to replace the erratic Fernando Torres for next season.
