Don’t Wait For the World Cup! The True Fan’s Guide to Getting Hooked on Soccer

How to Pick a Team▼
With American sports, your fan fate is preordained. You inherit a team from your dad or are born into a market where it's basically a birthright. But an American gets to choose his soccer team. Here, nine strategies for finding your dream squad.

Do You Like Trophies? We’ve Got trophies!

England: Manchester United (20 titles) and Liverpool (18) have won 30 percent of the English Championship titles. Arsenal ranks third with 13. But these days it’s basically a four-team scrum, with Chelsea (3 of the last 9) and Manchester City (just three but now owned by a Deputy Prime Minister of the U.A.E. and in contention for their second in 3 years) also in the mix.

Spain: It’s a two-horse race between Real Madrid (32 titles) and Barcelona (22), so ask yourself: Am I a Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi kind of guy?

Germany: Easy choice: it’s Bayern Munich. The defending champions, who are undefeated this year and won the Champions League last year, have 23 Bundesliga titles. The next closest club has 5.

Italy: Juventus are the big dogs in Serie A, with 29 titles and 21 second-place finishes, most of those to one of the two Milan teams, A.C. Milan (18 wins, 17 runner-up finishes) and Inter Milan (18 and 13).Champions League: Why stop with league titles when you can get behind the team that’s won all of Europe the most times—that being Real Madrid, with 9 Champions League titles. Rounding out the top five: A.C. Milan (7), Bayern Munich (5), Liverpool (5) and Barcelona/Ajax (tied with 4)

HAS to be some of the funniest **** that I have read in a while. Love the Manchester United part.
