Both games yesterday were good! All teams going at each other with some quality ball being played. I did find more than a few times center mids on all teams seemed to force the ball back across the middle, only to not hit the target. Of course there was pressure on, but still, I would have figured smarter choices.

All in all though, the tournament has been fun to watch.

As for the score itself, again my opinion, it is more disrespectful to just pass the ball back and forth, effectively stop trying, than having a higher score. I have been on both sides of that fence and as a competitor, I will give you more respect for playing your game rather than take pity. Let the play dictate the score.

This, I completely agree with.

So here’s a 2ndary Question, does equal pay = equality ?

Heck no. The reason why women footballers aren't getting paid as much as men is because of the viewership revenue. Events like these are major for women's soccer, but the amount they make is peanuts compared to what men makes. If they want women's soccer to be making the dollar bills, then they just have to cater towards the interests of the masses: being better.

^Yeah, I mean also to hold two World cups (men’s women’s) in an already saturated market. Be hard to generate that money as well

Go the Matilda’s 🇦🇺 2-0 down against Brazil 🇧🇷 . Oi Oi Oi!

My prediction for today is:

England Women vs Argentina Women

Winner: England
Both Teams to Score: No
Over 2,5 Goals
Final Result: 3:0

I usually use this site to get ideas on the bets because I think they have excellent predictions.

And I agree with their prediction, What do they say about this bet?

I leave the link below I would like to know your opinion and if someone uses this site too

Betclan .com

Thanks

@darth

I have no problem with the score and I agree completely that it is more disrespectful not give it all against opposition because it is a pitty football. Athlete should perform to fullest instead of saying “ we could have done more damage, but we spare them”. More humiliating/

Excessive celebration is what I had issue with. I remember how Luiz was already in tears against Germany before match was even over because he realized how badly they fcked up. Someone dancing in your face after scoring the 13th goal as if it is the World Cup final, is what made me feel disgusted.

@iheart

There is a whole thread on this but I agree with you. I will start campaigning for male models not getting equal pay on Instagram and in fashion industry. Also, male porn actors who aren’t even getting equal opportunities. This is the logic of USWMNT team I will just apply to every thing.

@EmoBot Looks like Canada qualified to the Semis.

Congrats on Toronto becoming NBA champs btw (Seperate topic). What is the world coming to.

I'm actually a Bucks supporter myself (though not a very active one). But the Raptors winning it is second best scenario for me. Above all else, I'm just glad the Warriors didn't it win it this year.

And yes! Canada got 6 point and considering both Cameroun and New-Zealand have 0, we are through! Just hope we don't finish second by losing or drawing against Netherland, cause if for some reason, USA ended up losing against Sweden and are also second, we would meet them first in the knockout round. That would be worse possible scenario for us by far. :D

Engand's singing "It's coming home" again, LOL. This world cup's becoming more and more exciting.

USA better be ready for England. They are fit, quick, and playing good ball. Both Semi-final matches will be very good.

All depends if Phill Neville manages to set up England to beat USA. Otherwise, USA has superior individual and collective quality to beat England. Although, France showed their weaknesses through strategic performance, US’s has better players and it stood out especially in defensive display.

Gonna be sincere, if England doesn't beat USA, I don't think we're gonna have a new world cup winner this year.

Also, I have been very dissapointed by Canada performance, I understand Sweden has been good and also won against Germany but I felt we should have done better against them. :(

Forth title and back to back champions. Thing is though, half the team is a bit older and I dont see playing in the next cup. The Euro teams are really bringing the levels up and unless we rebuild, we will have some very challenging times ahead.

Props to all the teams in this cup as it was some very good matches.

@DarthFooty Well said. Nice tournament all around, it wasn't perfect but certainly nice enough. And yeah, USA gonna need to start rebuilding soon. Gonna miss Rapinoe in particular if she leave the national team before the next world cup (which would make sense but still be sad). :(

The USWNT has rebuilt before, Wambach and Lilly leaving was huge, not to mention Akers and Hamm...they survived that and they'll survive without Lloyd and Pinoe.

Also age doesn't seem to hit female athletes as hard as men, nearly all the top players this tournament were in their early 30's and that's par for the course with what we've seen before in the women's game. The USA will be fine.

From a European perspective, it's a big step forward that the big guns (France, England, Nederlands, etc) have advanced past the Brazil/Japan/Canada/China level which they've historically been stuck at in the past (Germany being the exception). That said, it's clear that no side this tournament, European or otherwise, was the equal of the Americans. I'm looking forward to see how the sport continues to develop.

The only reason I didn't wanted them to win.. now they won't shut up about it...
Equal pay for "superior" play... do they really think they have a chance to beat the Men's national team? Otherwise it doesn't make sense. I think the gap is a bit big and maybe they should be paid more but that would all depend on sponsorships. They won't be happy until they make the same as men even if they are already getting paid millions for kicking around a ball.. smh
Let's see how the lawsuit progresses; I still have faith in American politics and law.

It is not about beating a mens team at anything...….. This Cup winning team would lose to a top U15 boys team and its not because of skill, its just sheer physical differences.

What needs to be addressed is the huge difference in funds as a whole, but they all have to be smart about it. Right now its all emotion that is driving the bus. Calmer minds need to really look at the pay gap to help try and bring it closer. Over 400 Mil for the Men's World Cup compared to 30 Mil for the Women's. Yes that is a huge difference, but the men's tournament has more teams involved and the % each team gets out of that 400 mil is less than what the women get. Not saying that clears it all, but that is just some of what needs to get looked at across the board.

Men get XXX just to play in an international match yet the women only get XX. The men get XXX in a loss for an international match which is still more than what the women get for a win. Things like this is what has to come through the magnifying glass.

The ladies have brought in more revenue for US soccer than the men these last three years, but a lot of that is due to the US men not qualifying for the last World Cup.

Should they be paid more, for sure, but I am not sure they can really create an equal pay system from A to Z. Lots of factors to consider.

I am a HUGE advocate for equality, and even I can admit that the money won't ever be exactly the same in sports.
