I genuinely despise people who put their hope and dreams into someone else achieving something for them. It's not Messis effin job to make you feel better. If he does: Enjoy. If he plays badly or even is just unlucky: Don't fucking blame him for your hurt pride. He is a human and possibly the best human ever in kicking a ball and playing that beatiful game. But don't EVER make him a god. He deservers it more than Maradona. Because he is a greater player than Maradona ever was. And he isn't such a cheat (on the pitch that is. He's still a tax evader...). But he still is NOT a god.

Winning a World Cup has so much to do with luck and coincidence. Both with single players and their team. So F*CK your pseudo religious bullsh*t.

I geniunely hope he could win the World Cup, because people would not accept him as the best ever if he failed to win with his country. Even though this task seems impossible now with every qualifying teams looking scarier than before, there is still hope. I hope he and his compatriots will play as one and dominate the world, for the first time in a long time!

If he doesn't win World Cup he will be forever behind Maradona and ofc, the great Pelé.

It baffles me to see footballers base someone's worth on fucking world cup. As if world cup is more competitive than Champions league, etc.

World Cup in football is the top of the top, only the best carry their team for the world title. In a club you can have 10 superstars from 10 different countries it's known that in football money buys titles.

Messi > Maradona + Pele. Pele was pre-Cryuff Total Soccer, so despite his considerable achievements, he isn't the best. Maradona won two domestic titles with Napoli, but never secured the Champion's League. I would go so far as to say CR 7 is better than both Maradona and Pele.

Pele is the best.

Just don't fathom how you want to define one's success solely through trophies ( although I know trophies do matter). In my opinion, Messi has outclassed all of them (I don't know for pele as I know little about him). But all the rest of the guy's numbers don't lie...Fuck all the trophies.
