Step 1. Win possession of the ball
Step 2. Pass sideways/backwards until you lose the ball
Step 3. Play boring football
Step 4. Repeat

Spain were poor. Yes Russia parked the bus hard, but Spain couldn't break them down for 120 minutes, and thats on them.

Real Madrid should never announce the capture of Julen Lopetegui a day before the opening match.
Spanish FA feels they've been betrayed by his dishonesty as he has been negotiating to a better deal on the contract extension which they accepted.
Even if he is not sacked, the feeling won't be the same as whether Spain does well or not, he will still leave the national coach role. Hierro has only a short time to get used to the role and furthermore, this was his first job as a coach.at a major tournament. A GIANT task for him. Sadly, greed comes first than national pride for Julen. Look at France, Croatia and Brazil, they are well prepared and it seems things are going well for them.
I do hope Zidane will take over the role of the national team.coz his tactics fit the team.

Spain wasnt a proper team this WC and i didnt consider high chances for them. But boy do i hate this bus parking teams who win by penalty. Cant say well deserved or congrats, but hey you guys exerted effort for 120 minutes and survived. So credits for that.

I don't even like PIQUE but how is this a penalty? The ball is over him, an opponent directs the ball into his hand while Pique is in the air with his back as to the location of the ball? Nobody knows what a penalty is these days, especially the referees!

It's a goalbound header and his hand is in a completely unnatural position at the time the contact is made. That's a penalty any day

Boi are you serious? That literally looked like a basketball block, and it looked intentional as well. Deff penalty.

The rule is not simply down to whether or not the handball was intentional. The key component in judging an unintentional handball (as is referred to above) is whether the hand/arm is kept close to the body so as to avoid unintentionally stopping/deflecting it. It's like negligence in the law - you didn't mean it, but you could foresee that your actions would result in an illegal action, and you did nothing to prevent it. In this case, Pique was jumping and naturally his arms lifted, which would be fine (because in rare cases like this the natural positioning of the arms away from the torso is allowed) but when he began lowering his arms as he was returning to the ground, he LIFTED his arm back up, making it an unnatural movement + leaving his arm in a probable collision course w/ the ball

Portugal and Spain deserved to go home after the group stage. Just like Argentina, Germany and the rest of the paper giants. I got so much authentic joy from teams such as Panama, Iran, Morocco, Columbia, Mexic, Nigeria and Senegal. This WC is all about fair justice done sooner than later! Brazil horrendous team is next. They survived way beyond reason. Football still alive despite constant attempts to destroy it for good!

Euro 2004 comes to mind when Greece invented pack the bus from the start - end and won the competition with just seven goals and most of the goals were set pieces. And even defeated Portugal twice with their best squad to date.

They park it because they have no other option. With increasing financial divide and the play of tiki taka there is no hope for small teams. And yes, the tiki-taka is almost dead now. The new way is gegenpressing epitomised by liverpool at the moment.

Big teams should already know that small ones will park the bus and they should learn how to break them instead passing around the defense for 120 min. What happened to aggressive direct football? Get more man into The box, create dangerous situation not just wait for the gaps to open.

What Guardiola does at City isn't really Tiki Taka anymore. Sure they dominate possession but they also play direct football and take risks, but they press really high as soon as they lose the ball to get it back. Every small team they played against last season parked the bus against them, with the exception of a 0-0 draw against CP they won almost all of them.

What we saw today wasn't tiki taka, it was just passing the ball around and being unable to enter the box. Tiki taka demands quick passes at first touch and movement to crack the defense open, the ability to alter the rhythm of the game and to put pressure on the opponent. I've seen none of these today.

How was that lucky? The penalty was BS in the first place, but Ederson saved it thats good goalkeeping, not luck.

Plus, City were robbed against United last season so calling them lucky is dumb,

Every penalty save is luck. The goalkeeper chose a side to dive and wished the best and ederson just got that.

Disgusting display from Spain, too many girls falling from a mild touch by Russian soldiers. Boring passing and Spain deserved to be out. Russia stood strong, just like back in 1945 in Moscow.
