Well done Belgium! It was a massacre. England lost all their fighting spirit and fell apart. Belgium on the other hand were lethal! No disrespect to Chelsea (really), but Hazzard needs to move to a bigger team!

I think England did wel to get this far. It's not a golden generation and they probably over achieved. Btw easy to slate them as well. How did Spain, Germany, Italy and Brazil. Yeop you got surpassed by England.

Glad that at the latter stages stages of this tournament, the stronger and more talented teams are actually winning. This World Cup has been undermined by one too many surprises causing absence of traditional football powerhouses (even from the qualifying stages).

Maybe the system should be changed to something closer to the Davis Cup in tennis where traditional powers have more advantage. Otherwise we might be seeing Panama, New Zealand, Iraq, Congo and likes as the semifinalist in future World Cups. Too many rooms for luck!

I think USA appearing in any of the World Cups in the past fifty years was too much luck. I'd prefer any one of those countries you counted in the finals rather than see that North American misery of football in the cup.

I work and live in the US but do not associate myself to the US National team as I grew up elsewhere. So really no point in bashing the US National team if that is your only argument againts my opinion.

Are you upset because the surprises were affecting your fantasy league points? The whole in watching a World Cup is to experience the unexpected, that's why it's called the World Cup.

I'm merely pointing at your hypocrisy in not counting USA among the teams you mention. Here's another argument if you like: Panama played a hell of a game in this cup, losing big time but that's what the World Cup is about. International friendship and festivity. Not dissing underdogs with heavy prejudice from hypocrites like you.

Came here to praise Hazard and De Bruyne too! I could watch them play all day...
Feel so bad for Lukaku too as his first touch was a breeze outside the box, but was sloppy in front when right next to Pickford...
How Southgate thought England were going to get anything out of this game without technical players is beyond me. Loftus-Cheek seemed to be the only English player capable of making something happen in the first half.

Anyway, a big win for Belgium today, outside of the obvious 3rd place, as even after leading they played attacking football, no unnecessary fouls or dragging out plays, stalling or shenanigans like other big contenders have done! Probably one of the very few matches this WC I could watch again.

Thank you, Belgium!

Media can effect a team and the World Cup. Other teams no living up to standards can make you believe too. Imagine being in our position. Spain, germany, argentina, portugal, etc... all knocked out and performed way way way way way way way way way under average. We never played badly, we may not have played excellent or decent half the times, but in the World Cup, you just need to get through, that';s it. We did that and belief grows stronger and stronger, wouldn't your passion take over when the country has it's best weather in years, best football team in years, best campaign in years?

Football can make a nation believe again.

Belgium was third in the fifa ranking, and ended in third position in the fifa wc. So you can say they lived up to the expectations. :)

Englands attack was average the past few games. Relied too much on set pieces. Belgium were better overall and deserved to win.

Hazard and De Bruyne surely the deadly duo.. The best duo in the team and WC.. but for tonight I'd choose De Bruyne for MOTM cause his passing was better and could make more assists if the finishers are better. Btw congrats Belgium and also England. They did well
