I should have posted a comment before this match that Basel was going to win. But then people might be against me so I didn't post comment and then my opinion was proven right. Basel won against a team like Valencia that play static possession football

Match fixing??? Goal 2: Valencia defender looks like he didn't want to reach the ball and falls deliberately... At best it was pathetic. Goal 3: Valencia gives the ball away softly, last man is in bad position, doesn't mark Stocker, manages to catch Stocker but makes no attempt to tackle... It looked all too easy to me...

"Good Try"? Welbeck's attempt was pitiful. Stocker's shot was brilliant!

Where is everyone? Attendance of 30 people, including staff and substitutes. This is highly irregular. The second goal was nice, great delivery ~UPDATED~ After extensive research (typed it in Google) "The reason for this lies in some fans of the Swiss club who have a bad habit of lighting the flares and throwing them onto the pitch during the game, which is what happened two weeks ago in Salzburg when they caused a 15-minute interruption. Seeing how this was not their first transgression, UEFA was merciless and handed them a financial fine (130,000 CHF) and ordered them to play one game in front of the empty stands".

Valancia beat Barcelona and lost agains Basel ...The stadium looks empty...I do not understand the reasons
-1
Janinho 10 years ago
the reasons? Basel plays in the swiss league and nobody gives a fuck about them & nobody notices how awesome this team can play. and then, when they are playing in europe evryone is surprised and ask themselves: omg, who are those "Basel" guys and how do they beat teams like chelsea and valencia, yeah...

when I went to switzerland, I watched a football match - it was not of basel though. I was totally surprised at their striking atmosphere. I bet there were few people simply because it is just the europa league. if they qualified to the cl, the stadium would not be that empty. swisses are not uninterested in their football league.

okay first of all: the stadium was empty due to a penalty from uefa. and second, the swiss league is weak? compared to what? to leagues like german, spanish, english. sure compared to those leagues ours is shit. but compared to many other leagues our league is not that bad.

Basel dominated the first 45 min! The second half, valencia got way stronger. But this doesn't mean that the spanish league is poor! Basel has beaten Chelsea and some other english top clubs recently. In my opinion they played very clever.

I wouldn't say swiss football is nothing. It used to be nothing but Swiss teams and players keep getting better and better. We beat Spain, Germany and Brazil in the last couple of years, are ranked 7th in the FIFA world ranking and Basel beat a handful of big teams plus they reached the semi-finals in the EL last year after defeating Tottenham.

Who gives a shit? They used an almost identical line-up like the one that beat Spain 3:0 in the Confederations Cup. They never dominated us, friendly game or not. I rest my case, Switzerland is developing to be a strong football nation and you can't prove me wrong!
