The best teams in the world

2 years ago since first thread. A month ago since that thread got updated and then closed.

In order:

Tier 1
Real
PSG
Bayern

Barca (a bit behind)

Tier 2
Juventus
City
Chelsea
United
Atletico Madrid
Dortmund

Tier 3
Arsenal
Spurs
Roma
Sevilla
Liverpool
Monaco

Tier 4
Napoli
Milan
Porto
RB Leipzig
Inter
Benfica
Schalke
Sporting CP
Leicester
Zenit
CSKA Moskva
Besiktas
Galatasaray
Everton
PSV Einhoven
Basel
Ajax
Feyenoord
Celtic

.some of you said that PSG shouldn't be up there (still think so?) and that Real should be in their own league (still think so?). At this time I'd put Chelsea above Atletico. They're just not as good as a year or two ago. United and City have certainly proved themselves. Will be fun to watch City - Chelsea this week. Bayern is still definatively up there no matter that they lost big to PSG.

Juve in tier 1? Are Juve a better team than Chelsea?

Replace juve and atletico with psg and bayern, they reached 2 ucl finals in 3 years

I still don't think PSG are tier 1 yet, been too incosistent in the champions league for that. And don't believe they will knock out the big teams if their only tactic is to pump the ball up to MCN (kind of similiar to Luis Enrique's tactic at Barca with MSN, not using the midfield in the buildup at all). But time will tell, they also looked very promising last season as well before their 6-1 defeat..

Juve are definitely a better team than Chelsea, which they have proved by 2 finals in 3 years. 1 good group match win against Atletico doesn't change that. Although Chelsea look very promising, and should get back up there.

And I agree with Chelsea8 about Atletico. They deserve to be in the top as they are beasts when it comes to 2 leg matches. Only eliminated by Real Madrid 4 years in a row in the champions league.

Napoli should be in tier 3 imo.

Damn, this year things have got extremely complex...

But in the last 2/3 years (taking potential, performances and positioning):

Tier 1

  • Real
  • Bayern
  • Barca (with MSN and a slightly aged Iniesta, and off form Busquet. This year without N, kinda mediocre unless Messi goes crazy).

Tier 2

  • Juventus
  • Atletico Madrid
  • PSG
  • Man City & Chelsea

Tier 3

  • Napoli
  • Spurs
  • Sevilla
  • Manchester United (we are going strong this year, but haven't had a real test yet)
  • Monaco
  • Dortmund

Tier4

  • Arsenal
  • Liverpool
  • Roma

For me Arsenal & Liverpool are just tier 4, although they have all the potential to be in the top tier 3 or 2. Same for MU but we won EUL last year so...

@Eden Agreed, not enough competition in their league is slowly injuring them. :(

Yes, PSG still don't deserve to be up there. They look more threatening I guess than what I was expecting. Totally missed their game against Bayern and read some people saying that the 3-0 scoreline isn't a clear reflection of what happened on the pitch, but still 3-0 is a huge result. If they get a good champions league this season (semis, final, etc) then yes I think they can be considered tier 1.

I'd bump Juve to tier 1 and maybe Atletico as well? They've started the season slightly under what's expected of them, but they'll still be tough to knockout in a two legged tie. Plus they've had great champions league performances in recent seasons like @chelsea8 mentioned :p

@Emo: good point, somehow I kinda dislike their football but indeed they should have swapped with Roma

@Yvan21 From the stat I seen, PSG did good on the counter but Bayern had more shot than them, so yeah, it was simply a question of Paris being more clinical and dangerous when they had the chance.

@Tuan_jinn Indeed. :)

@Emo I see, with those 3 up front that style suits them for sure :p

@Yvan21 Of course, the 3 of them are fast and technical meaning that they can nearly alway create great chance if there isn't many defender between them and the goal. Worst is that they combine well together with the rest of their team-mate. :U

Juventus is no where near Bayern, Real or Barca.

Also PSG is better than Juventus. In fact, as it is now, PSG can beat any team.

Other than that, Juve is top of tier 2.

Other than that again, doubtful they'd beat Chelsea.

So.

Juve should rightfully be in tier 2 and rightfully:ish be top of tier 2.

PSG should be in tier 1. Just look how they handled Real. Just look last years CL too. And they're way better today.

Seriously though, everything after the So contradicts what you just wrote previously, unless you got your tiers mixed up or it's some deep form of sarcasm
