My parents stopped believing in Mexico's national team ever since Germany defeated us 6 - 0 in 1978's World Cup. Now it is time for me to stop supporting this joke team.

Mexico its a good team, however, the mexican press, players and fans need to be more humble. If Mexico wants to be great, they should play the qualifications to the world cup with south america. Mexico plays the copa de oro against cuba, martinica, haiti... Chile has to play in buenos aires, montevideo, rio, barranquilla, quito, la paz at 2500 mts of altitude, its very hard to play in south america, however conmebol has 4 spots to the world cup and the concacaf has 3, thats very absurd, america should merge the qualifications and it would be more competitive for Mexico, but thats never gonna happen. Cheers.

For starters, ChileanKOP, Mexico play in the Estadio Azteca, in Mexico City, which is 2,250 meters above sea level; I don't think Mexico would find it difficult playing in high altitude since they do it half the time anyway. Secondly, the number of spots awarded is based on ratio of teams. Statistically African teams have 5 teams qualify out of 53, or 10.6%, Asia has 4.5 out of 46 teams (approx. 10.2%,) Europe has 13 out of 51 teams not counting the host nation (approx. 4%), and Oceania league has just 0.5 out of 11 teams qualify (a conditional 22%). North America has 3.5 spots of of 35 or 10% and South America has 4.5 out of 10 teams or a whopping 45% qualify. That means that from the get go every team in Conmebol has an almost 1 in 2 chance of making the world cup.

I know that that is more relative than just numbers and a lot of the teams in Conmebol are quality, but those are still pretty lofty starting odds. And that fifth-place team is almost certainly playing New Zealand to qualify, so you can almost really bump that up to five spots. Last time NZ tried to qualify for the World Cup, they faced that team up there that just got blasted 7-0 and lost 9-3 on aggregate. Ouch.

Mexico's fans i´m sorry but I have to tell you, you'd better don´t play any sport in any international competition, sport isn´t your best skill. At least you are good in soap operas

I think Mexico get paid to lost intentionally, just see the way they play. or maybe they got blackmailed?
no one ever come to that kind of horror play just overnight, it just not possible.

i mean Chile not that great, man. Argentina will be crowned Champion here, or getting paid-slash-blackmailed too

Nobody get's black mailed to lose 7-0. Maybe 3-0 at the least. What I mean is, you want to make it look good, not put your reputation and legacy on the line also. Get outta here with that shit. Also I'm guessing you never played soccer (football) before. Obvious signs of players giving up especially if your down 3-0, 4-0. Mexico's defense are very weak. This sport is very much a mental game. Most forget that like you, my friend.

No but CHILE player are full of shitty footballer, with Vidal DUI during copa and during QF against Uruguay, Chile would have lost that game but full-back Gonzalo Jara poked Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani in the anus and the brawl stated which make Cavani sent off due to 2 yellow. Damn Chilean footballer are full of assholes and fucking shits personalties except Sanchez and few other none well known players.

Really Hope Argentine finish Chile off with 10 - 0 result and rub shit in Vidal fcking arrogance face

@Gooey_Lagoon google Argentina - Peru 1978 World Cup. Argentina needed to win 6-0 and guess what the final score was? Decades later it was unveiled that it was rigged. Argentina won the world cup that year.

And what does that mean? India have a MUCH bigger population than Germany, Spain, Italy yet all the counties i mentioned would whoop India in a match. It's about quality not quantity.

it's just mind-boggling since football is the top sport in this nation, and when you have 130 million fans behind your back and decent players, you should do better

Not sure why everyone is surprised Chile has a very good international team since last world cup, they beat Argentina in the last copa. They are right up there with Argentina and Brazil in CONCACAF (you know if Brazilian starting XI actually come to play...) and the likes of Spain, Germany, France, Italy worldwide. Let's see if Argentina manage to collapse in yet another big tournament. Such a huge pool of talent and with less than Chile has to show for it because of coaches not using their best players and being poor tacticians in general.

Why people are saying that Brazil didn't come with good players? The only guy missing was Neymar, and the last match Chile played against Brazil, Chile dominated them and won 3-0 (WC Qualifiers).

AC Milan, Italy 0 35
yep Brazil can be much better with Thiago Silva, Marcello, David Luiz on Defense. Then names like Oscar, Firminho, Douglas Costa even Rafinha on Mid, plus Neymar and Hulk in Att. But the most crucial change that Brazil needs is to change Dunga.. I don't know why he doesn't called up those names while in Olympic they will only be able to call three senior players (including Neymar)
1
Camaron 8 years ago
0 39
He didn't call them cause they were shit in the last year Copa América, all the names you said have been given chances to play, Brazil people don't even want to watch Thiago Silva at the national team cause he is sh*t, same goes for Firminho and Oscar.

Camaron why are you talking shit? 6/10 best brazilian players didnt play in this worthless Copa. Im sorry the team didnt perform at the world cup because Thiago Silva was suspended and they broke Neymars' neck for the Germany game. Fact = Brazil haven't lost since Neymar+Thiago Silva have played. Another fact = for this shit copa no Neymar, no Silva, no Luiz, no Douglas Costa, no Marcelo and the list goes on and on and on...at least they have an olympic gold medal to look forward to.

@ChileanKOP you keep talking about commebol like a good federation. But is the most corrupted federation on earth and also full of useless people. every tournament organized by commbebol is a joke (copa sudamerica, libertadores, copa america, etc)

What happened when US beat Ecuador, or Costa Rica beat Colombia, or Mexico beat Uruguay? Conmebol vs Concacaf? There's a little more grey area than just 'one's obviously better than the other.'
