WHU have little chance of doing that in next 2-3 years, so naturally, Payet is doing what many other players have done. (RVP and Nasri come to mind). They go to clubs that can give 'em a shot at winning something. Payet has not won anything with neither one of his former clubs and as much as I dig WHU and Slaven Bilic, I just don't see it happening considering the brutal competition.
I feel sorry for their fans but most modern footballers don't really care about loyalty to the club and fans as much as they care about trophies and cash. Totti/Gerrard/Terry/Scholes/Maldini and the likes are tough to find in this age.

I'm not shitting on West Ham by any means -- I feel sorry for their fans this is happening but most modern footballers don't really care about loyalty to the club and fans as much as they care about trophies.
From that angle, such a clean strike, you can't call him lucky - just pure class.
