Match facts

Real Madrid

  • Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are facing each other for the eighth time in the last five Champions League seasons (4x group stages, 2x quarter-finals, 2x semi-finals).
  • Real Madrid have won 11 of their last 14 Champions League home games against German clubs (D2 L1), their only defeat in that run coming against Schalke in March 2015 (3-4).
  • At the Bernabeu, Real Madrid have won 20 of their last 21 Champions League group games (D1), including the last 12. Borussia Dortmund were the last team to stop them from winning, in November 2012 (2-2).
  • Madrid and Dortmund are both through to the knockout stages of this season's Champions League but only a win for Madrid will see them top the group.
  • In Real's case, this is the 20th consecutive season in which they have made it to the Champions League knockout stages, a record in the competition.
  • Cristiano Ronaldo has scored four goals in six Champions League games against Borussia Dortmund, including the opening goal in their last fixture in September (2-2).

Borussia Dortmund

  • Borussia Dortmund have won none of their five away games against Real Madrid (D1 L4). The German side have also conceded at least two goals in each of those five trips to the Santiago Bernabeu.
  • AC Milan are the last team to beat Real Madrid on their own soil in the group stages (3-2 on October 21 2009).
  • Borussia Dortmund have the opportunity to win all three of their away games in a Champions League group stage for the first time. In fact, Dortmund have won seven of their last nine away games in the group phase (L2).
  • Borussia Dortmund – 19 goals this season – are only one goal short of equaling the record for most goals in a Champions League group campaign (Manchester Utd 1998/99, Barcelona 2011/12, Real Madrid 2013/14).
  • Only two of Dortmund's last 27 Champions League games have ended in a draw (W16 L9).
  • Only Neymar (7) has delivered more assists than 19-year-old Ousmane Dembélé (5) in this season's Champions League.

Predictions

Real Madrid should be fired up after their late equaliser in El Classico at the weekend and with this game being played on Wednesday, rest shouldn't be an issue either.

It's hard to see a Real clean sheet though, Dortmund have scored 19 times in 5 games and already twice against this team this season.

Both teams are likely to score, but expect Real Madrid to come out on top with a narrow win.

Final Score – 2 : 1

No more luck for Dortmund. Real break Dortmund Open.
Real will get a good result. They are playing at their home and they will come back whereafter classico to their home. Real will be welcomed by their fans and they will support during match

I really don't care who wins...but it would be nice to see Dortmund perhaps gain a surprise win...their starting XI boasts real quality...as does Reals..but think it would be cool to see Dortmund come away with a win here...
