Match facts

Germany

  • Both these sides are unbeaten since Euro 2016, with Germany in particular impressing as they won the Confederations Cup last summer while fielding what was essentially their B team.
  • They’ve won eight of nine games on home turf, keeping a clean sheet in seven of these victories, but the exception came in a stalemate against France – the only side they faced during this period that we have ranked in the world’s top 10.
  • The current World Cup champs have also shared the spoils with the likes of Italy, Chile and England since the Euros.

Spain

  • Spain have drawn five of their last 11 on the road – including a pair of stalemates in Italy and another at Wembley.
  • Eight of Spain’s last 10 friendlies on their travels have also no more than two goals, while they drew four of the last six of these.
  • Chelsea's Alvaro Morata, Cesc Fabregas and Pedro are among those who didn't receive a call-up, while team-mate Marcos Alonso got the call for the first time.
  • Hector Bellerin, Juan Mata and Sergi Roberto have also been left out.

Predictions

European heavyweights Germany and Spain clash in a Dusseldorf international friendly on Friday and we fancy the hosts to have the edge.

La Roja famously enjoyed narrow wins when these teams met in the Euro 2008 final and the 2010 World Cup semis.

However, the balance of power has since shifted in Die Mannschaft’s favour and they get the nod.

Final Score – 1 : 0
