Argentina has never been able to get it together on the international level. Great players but they don't mesh on the field. I predict the Gauchos won't get past the second round. All show and no go.

If some of you guys think Messi wasn't giving enough effort or making much runs it's probably because it's just a friendly and he doesn't want to risk himself on getting injured and not making it to the world cup. All the teams aren't performing at their best at this moment until the matches really count in Brazil.

i doubt it.....the same problem has been going on during qualification for the world cup that why they changed coach so much and got eliminated of the copa america so fast....the same problem is still going on ....with or without tevez......there is only strikers in attack and no creative midfielder in the team....and the defense is weak.......and by the way im from argentina..... We ALL KNOW WHAT THE problem is here since we been wathcing all their games

@kom, Messi is the only creative mid on the team which is why he drops back so much and doesn't make runs. There're 3 other forwards on the pitch tryin to make runs, so if he does so as well, who's gonna make the final pass?

They played Gago and Mascherano together (both DM's) with 3 attacking players in Aguero, Messi and Higuain?...wheres the trequartista? this is like a Fifa 14 lineup lol just put in your best and let them run it...shouldve played Banega instead of Gago

Sure, but that's why they play friendlies. They experiment and try out things that may or may not work. This time it didn't work. At least now they know it.

This is how they've been playing all throughout Qualifiers. Messi acts as the trequartista, with Higuain the poacher, and Aguero a supporting striker. It's not really a 4-3-3, with the front line, including Di Maria, roaming around freely. It's been very effective. This match just wasn't theirs.

Messi has been lacking fitness after that injury. He is not making runs and his movements off the ball are way too minor and slow compared to his prior performances. He used to be the best even if he doesn't score, because he used to put a hell of efforts, but it doesn't seem like it anymore. Get back to your best, you are still young and have the brightest future!!!

Disappointing match. No1 brought their scoring boots today... Quite a few good chances were created but no end product. For matches like these, a guy like Tevez does come in handy. He'd prolly do something unique or even get into a fight with one of the opposing players which would at least provide us with some entertainment. The only creative outlets in Argentina's midfield are Messi and Di Maria, and both of them are essentially forwards. Thus the entire actual midfield is made of two holding mids, who while provide lots of support for the defense, barely help going forward, especially when keeping possession. The defense, ofcourse, continues to be shaky. Romero did pretty well, but Caballero still deserves a call up.

Because Messi doesn't really get along with Tevez or he doesn't like his style of playing even though Tevez is a top class player. Messi is a big influence on their national team, there is an article about it that's explains everything just look it up online.
